*POLL* NIN, APC or Tool

tough choices, grew up with tool and nin, but gonna have to give the nod, and as much as this hurts me, nin. its just that pretty hate machine, broken, and downward spiral were incredible albums for me at the time. but thats not to say opiate and undetow dont hold a special place in my musical heart.

I never got the whole Tool obsession. They have a few songs I like, but I get sick of them very easily. As a result, I have to vote nin. For the last year or so, We're In This Together has rocked my bottom. 😛

I voted tool but this man speaks the truth!! But tool is my first love NIN came next....

Slipknot!!

Actually, out of those Tool. I actually did go through a little phase where I liked Tool, but for some reason I grew out of it. Now they all just seem like cheesy goth rock. Yeah don't flame me, I'm sure you think most of my sh!t is pretentious art rock and hell it probably is, but that's my stereotype and I'm stickin' to it. 🙂

Cheesy because I think it is cheesy. Goth because Trent and Maynard dress in black, are obsessed with blood and pain and sh!t like that, and basically are goths. (In a loose interpretation of the term I suppose) 😛

I've never been a big fan of NIN. Tool has always been awesome and just had so much emotion. APC is good, but their last album just didn't quite hit the spot like the first. All of Tool's albums have been great IMO, so I chose Tool.

Nine Inch Nails. APC and Tool combined do not match Trent Reznor's talent. Trent Reznor is like the beethoven of our time, his compositions are amazing, hes an incredible lyricist, hes got an excellent singing voice and he continues to evolve and push boundaries with his music.

Can you tell hes also my role model?

Eh, I dunno.. I used to think he was really the sh*t, and though I still think he's extremely talented (if not, he'd be a moneyless POS like me), finding out that Heresy is based on a Nietzke (sp?) (a writer recommended by none other than MJK) quote sort of de-magic'd him for me 🙁

This has nothing to do with it, but a few years ago a friend and I went to see APC & NIN in concert at MSG (in NYC 😛). This dumbass parked so far away that, despite my protests to the parking spot, and despite jogging most of the way there, we arrived only in time to see APC perform Judith - their last song. NIN was great, including my fav, Ruiner, but my foremost memory of that night is jogging till blue in the face :|

Seconded. Except that while I agree that having his babies would be a worthy sacrifice on my part, if somehow possible, he doesn't have THAT great of a "singing" voice in the literal sense nor does he write the most incredible lyrics (though I do like them, indeed).

However, the guy IS a musical genius and his skill with producing is pretty much unmatched. Moreso than any kind of pop-ish, dime a dozen bands like Tool or A Perfect Circle.

WTF

Seriously... If you think Trent > Maynard, fine (though I don't agree)... but both are leaps and bounds above other current day lyricists, and I won't tolerate calling him "pop-ish"

Yeah..and likeness of the sound of APC I have found coming from no other band of today...
I choose APC anyway.

I still love the song "Sober" and "Prison Sex" was cool too. Honestly haven't heard much more from Tool though, so I gave the nod to NIN since I know more of their stuff. And don't know anything about APC, didn't even know what APC stood for untill I saw the poll.
