Cincinatti @ Chicago
Bengals have got the momentum to push Palmer and Co. past Da Bears in spite of the flogging Chicago dished out to the Lions last week (how did that happen anyway??). Cincinatti is gunning for 3-0, but don't expect Chicago to just roll-over coming off a huge upset victory. Cincinatti wins 31-17
Atlanta @ Buffalo
This will be a good matchup. Both of these team have something to prove. Atlant is coming off a stinging loss at Seattle and Buffalo's loss to Tampa should have sent a wake up call to a defense who talked about being the best ever. But if Buffalo's D can shut down the run, Vick and the gang will litterally run all over the Bills.
Atlanta for the win 27-10
Cleveland @ Indianapolis
Need I even explain...
Colts win 45-3
Tampa Bay @ Green Bay
I said from the beginnign that the ship was sinking in Green Bay, but I had no idea how bad things were for FarveCo. until last week's loss to the Browns. Meanwhile Tampa is showing the world just how underrated they were starting the season 2-0. This week is a perfect opportunity to stretch that out to 3-0. Expect to the the Bucs brining their 'A' game but dont' think that Bret and the boys are going to just take it on the chin. The Pack knows it needs to fight just to salvage any part of this season.
Tampa wins this one. 17-13
Jacksonville @ NY Jets
Two otherwise high power teams both shooting it out but the Jags QB, Byron Leftwich suffered a groin injury against the Colts last week and has not practiced yet. If the Jags show up weak the Jets could capitalize however, Chad Pennington's six fumbles don't bode well for the Jets 'O either. Defense will win this game with the Jets pulling it out.
NY Jets win 20-17
Oakland @ Philly
The non-existant Oakland defense will prove to be no match agains the Eagle's high powered offense. Moss and TO's checkered past will make this an interesting matchup to watch but McNabb is cleary the better man to have at the helm. Look for the Eagles to win this home-season opener.
Eagles win 45-27
Tenessee @ St Louis
The Rams have not looked good yet this season. Last weeks win could have easily gone the other way if Warner had played smarter in the waning moments of the 4th quarter. However Tenessee still has no defense and against the Rams playing at home in the dome, it would be pretty naive to bet against the lineup of Bulger, Holt, Bruce, Jackson, Fault, Looker, and Wilkins. If the Rams can hold it together on special teams, this game is a lock.
St Louis to win 28-20
Carolina @ Miami
Who would have thought that Miami could have taken out Denver like they did in week one. Could it have been part due to 114 degrees on the field? But don't expect it to happen again. Last week Carolina all but proved they could be the team I said they could in my preseason writeup
here. Expect more of Stephen Davis this week.
Carolina wins 30-14
New Orleanes @ Minnesota
NO fought hard in their loss Monday night. They've got a short week going up to Minnesota but not to worry. I'll be the first to admit that I've over-rated this team from the beginning. Apparently Randy Moss really makes that much of a difference and Mike Tice isn't proving to be much of a head coach either. The Viks have something to proove, and Deuce is sure to find his way through a couple of holes in the Viks' D, but don't expect a blowout game here, and don't be surprised if either team wins this one, but my gut gives this one to New Orleanes.
Saints win 17-13
Arizona @ Seattle
Seattle is tough to beat at home. The proved that against the explosive Atlanta Falcons last week. Enter the Gridbirds... coming off a pitiful loss to a St. Louis team who barely showed up to play. Phoenix has their work cut out for them and Warner is going to have to play up to the levels he's capable of if the Cards are to have a shot. The Phoenix D is still pretty good at stopping the run, but if Shawn Alexander and Matt Hassleback get hooked up, it's all over but the cryin'.
Seahawks win 28-10
Dallas @ San Francisco
Dallas goes to the Bay this week to take on the 49'ers. They'd better play harder than they did on Monday night or we're likely to see a repeat of the week one 49'ers-Rams game. Roy Williams is explosive on defense and the 'Boys have the talent if they can just get their game going. Convential wisdom says Cowboys, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset here. Still my pick is for Dallas.
Dallas wins 20-10
New England @ Pittsburgh
Three letters W-A-R. This is the game to watch this week. The defending champs take on a top contender in the AFC. Brady is looking a little bothered by his shoulder injury and a tough Steelers run defense will for the Pats to the air. If the Pittsburgh secondary can contain then the Pats could be in trouble. Ben Roethlisberger has a combined rating of 149 for the first two weeks which will challenge a weaker-than-laster Pats D. Considering how this matchup shook out last year I'm picking the Steelers to win at home.
Steelers win 30-27
NY Giants @ San Diego
Eli Manning has not shown anything above average this year. Brandon Jacobs was a stud at SIU and in the few carries he's had it looks like he's got the stuff for the NFL. In fact, he's his own lead blocker! SD on the other hand has not really impressed me yet. I know they can be explosive and LT is just wicked. This could be the game to rally this team at home with the bad blood between the Chargers and Eli. Either team has a good shot at vicytory in San Diego. If the game is decide by defense then the Chargers should come out on top. NY just doesnt' have the same defensive stopping power.
Chargers ralley 30-17
KC @ Denver
Monday's matchup will be an AFC West show down. Historically the last eight matchups between these two teams have been won at home, but with the new-look KC defense allowing only 12 points per game so far coupled with a strong Chief's offense, the odds are against Denver. As far as the Bronco are concerned, the game against Miami is still in the back of my mind. Even thoug they did win against San Diego, I don't think this team is ready for the Chiefs. Either way, this will be a hard fought matchup but my vote goes to KC.
Chiefs win 21-14
Just my $.02, of course I could be wrong about all of this. The way this season has started, nothing would surprise me.
