horizontal scrollbars = very bad!

Gennerally a table width of 916 pixels is not popular. Most people on the internet now adays are using 800x600 resolution and you're way over what they can see.

Cut down on that that's step one on your improvments.

I think its a good start, after resizing your page width, try to avoid numerous links to the same thing, you have 3 links to Nintendo on the first page alone. Keep it up!

PS, change the title of your page...those "place your name here....." titles scream newbie;)

I strongly recommend learning real HTML (instead of using an editor/generator), as well as reading some basic documentation on design issues with HTML.

Your page is indeed too dark, and your use of tables is excessive, makes the site busy and hard to read.

Well, the columning underneath the silver car is obviously badly done but easily solved. Not necessary to learn HTML for such a site.
More to the point though, is why anyone should want to visit the site because it doesn't have a theme. People search for and visit sites for a specific topic, unlikely that it would be "verygreedy+everything+he+likes"

Okay people have said this earlier in the thread but:

A site needs a theme something that someone would be looking for.

The site needs to be optimized for the most used resolution while keeping it looking good in other resolutions. i.e. made for 800*600, but nice @ 1024*768

It needs to be optimized for MODEM users even though broadband is getting more widely available most people are still on modems.

You should really learn HTML, its good to use an editor to draft a layout of a site but its better to finish the site with hand coding using the HTML standards.

Use easily visible colors, i.e blue on black is not easily visible.

Test the site on both Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers for compatibility.

It might also be a good idea to sketch out ideas on a piece of paper before you just hop on the computer and try to do it. Gives you more visualized material to work with.

Photoshop is a great image editor, you can do a lot with that program.

Hope this helps.

Your color scheme is kind of off. You could lose the flashing link :). (i don't like those). And the site is a bit to busy. But hey if this is you very first page ever! Than I would say it's not bad for a first one, my first one was worse i think, hehe.

TTT..Thanks for the input. Whether its positive or negative it will help. I have worked on computers for years and I have some spare time so I decided to build a website.. just for kicks.

Having multiple themes.. Computers, Cars, Cards.. will not change however the content will triple in size over the next month. I will have to organize much better and make the graphics a bit more clear... How do I change the resolution to suit 800x600? Although, I browse at 1024x768... Keep the input coming. Regards, Brian

well the front page looks ok, it's not proffesional looking, but it's alot better then many sites I've been to!

It's nice to have a predictable pattern/template for your website, like Anandtech does (the menu at the top for example), especially if you are going to have alot of content.

I personally would also be interested to see what people have to say about a website I made, it's somewhat similar to Anandtech (hey Anand is my idol!) in terms of the menu at the top.. however, I don't have it on a webserver yet, so you'll just have to wait!

I'm not trying to make mine look amazing, or anything, the content is what I'm looking for the most :)

Looks good for a beginner. Like others said, learn raw HTML first. And can you give me more info on that 300Z on the front? Never seen one with doors like that. :)

Yes that 300ZX on the front is a "special modification"
I believe it was done by altered atmosphere.. rather expensive I assume.

I should have pics of my altered 1998 3000 GT SL soon.
Any other ideas for my site? Are templates a good way to go for semi beginners?

Also how about this 800x600.. how do I change it. When I look it up in netscape it looks fine to me.. nothing professional but I dont have to side scroll..
