Poll: New Metallica single - like it or hate it?

So now that most of the stations around are playing the new single from Metallica, St. Anger, do you like it or hate it?

Personally, I think I know how Metallica has figured out how to get people to quit downloading their music from online........just make a single that sucks, and no one will worry about it!! It's craptacular at best.

how about another option "i am going to buy the CD so i can listen to the whole thing a few times and then decide if i like the music or not" ?

Ditto... pre-ordered it. If I don't like it, it was only $13 to my favorite band of all time (who I play in my car every day still), no big loss to me.

BTW, was the song's name St. Anger? Did you hear Frantic yet ?

well... it was St. Anger (or whatever it's called) I heard just now in the car and I must say... It is the most generic mainstream pop-kinda rock song I have ever heard from them. I don't plan on buying the album but I'll d/l some of the other singles and make a better informed opinion in a couple weeks.

Because it's not about the album, just the newly released single.

The song's name is, in fact, St. Anger. The album is also titled St. Anger AFAIK. Haven't heard Frantic.

I'm not sure what I think of it. Now, take into account I'm a huge Metallica fan.

I think it's awesome in the fact that it's different. Much welcome in the sea of generic rock songs that seem to be played on the radio.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the vocals/lyrics. It's growing on me though.

By lashing out against music downloading and how it hurt the music industry, Metallica essentially said that music is about money. Makes you wonder how/why some bands get together in the first place (aka boy bands).

Lol, my eyes have been opened!!!

You people are fscking clueless. My God.

Metallica lashing out at Napster had NOTHING to do with money.

They simply disagreed with the model that Napster was. That's it. It had nothing to do with money.

They said it over and over and over and over and over again.

What makes you believe otherwise?

What are you basing your ASSumptions on?

They disagreed with Napster. What would you do if you disagreed with something?

They believed, as musicians, that they were who should put up a stand. If not the musicians, then who?

The only reason people think it was about the money is because they obviously have enough to be very well off. You can't fault them for that.

Ummmm, common sense? You actually believed they attacked Napster out of the goodness of their hearts?
