its stupid.

But i was watching the news last night, and they were interviewing some guy and he said:
"I didn't stop smoking when my baby was born, so why would this stop me from smoking in my car?"

Needless to say I wanted to smack that guy.

Yeah, but...
What if he kept smoking, but not around the baby?
Smoking in general != smoking around the baby.
Of course, if he did smoke around the baby, he is an idiot, but you shouldn't assume he did, and he's the dad, not the mum, so it wouldn't cause problems during pregnancy if he didn't smoke around the mother.

1% of 32,000 "distraction related" accidents? They are making a bill to cover 320 accidents? 😕

How many of the other 99% of accidents were caused by distractions due to the radio? Where's the bill to ban radios in cars? How many were caused by screaming kids? Where's the bill to ban having children in the car? How many were caused by mere conversation? Where's the bill to ban talking in cars?

This is nothing more than some douche-bag legislator with a personal vendetta against tobacco abusing his power. Run the scum out of office. Fvcktard.

Jersey Government Sucks. The wondefull democraps are screwing that state so bad its going to have an economic collapse. Houses are overpriced for junk ones and the average person cannot afford to buy a home. I know guys making 75K who cant afford to buy a home in NJ. Property Taxes are rediculous as well and they just increased on my remaining friends still there. Car insurance is insane. Not to mention all the other hidded BS charges in that state.

I donated a car to a kids organization and the wonderfull governer passed a law that only allows a 500 tax deduction for the cause. When the dontation center told me that I asked the girl why would anyone donate a car any more and she started to cry and said I know.

Way to screw the charities gov! Didnt they learn anything from Florio?

My wife and I recently moved out of there to North Carolina. As much as I love the people I have to laugh that all my neighbors are from NY and NJ. Seems everyone is moving down here and many of the big companies up in Jersey are also looking down here. So there go the jobs in Jersey. Merck is looking to move thier data centers here and it wont be long before the rest do the same. Jersey loses Pharma and it will collapse. Trust me when I tell you that I worked for 4 of them and guess what 4 of them were investigating alternate locations. Lucent even moved most operations to Illinois.

NJ is doomed. Only the new yorkers moving to the train lines are keeping it alive. That wont last.

It would never be enforced.

Are these people moving south the same ones that voted the idiots into power up there in the first place? If so, they really shouldn't be moving to other locations. They need to keep that crap up there where they asked for it and not spread it around to other parts of the country. I'm not speaking to you specifically, but the ones that migrate and yearn for "the good old days in the greatest land of all."

Not sure what political side they reside on because no one seems angry about politics here. Amazing how a democrat got voted back in after what Florio did to the state. Now mc Greedy and his bum buddy are giving the state the rest of a screw. If new jersey votes democrap ever again it will show how stupid the state is.

Most are people taking advantage of the rediculous housing prices as jobs in North and South carolina pay about 80% of what Jersey does. Except Houses are 1/2 to 1/3 the price and property taxes. LOL. I went from 6800 a year property taxes to 2600 and I am living where its considered expensive on lake norman. In a different part of the state the same house taxes would be 1280.00 a year. My house is new and even bigger than the one I had in NJ and it cost almost half the price. Quality builder too not some run of the mill hack. There was no line at immigration I mean Motor Vehicles. People are nice. Radio stations play music. Car Insurance is half. Health Insurance is half. Oh and I for some reason can breath the air. I didnt live anywhere near newark. I lived down the shore.

The only downside is I have to pump my own gas but then I dont have to worry about the guy pumping my gas with my credit card. Or leaving it sticking out at the pump where the guy behind me can snap a picture of it with his digital phone and have my credit card number when he gets home.

No road rage either. Weird I cant explain it. Its like driving in PA. Not Philly where people merge way before they need to instead of cutting in the last second.

I lived 20+ years of my life in NJ. I wish I would have done this sooner.

The Carolina's Rock. Get out while you can. Chances are your company is moving here anyway.

I did a job for the state house of representatives in florida and I met a quarter of the politicians in Florida. I can honestly say Republicans are a much better people than Democrats. And yes Florida people are stupid. Next to the State Capitol house they put in walk/dont walk signs and the next day someone was hit by a car. They give floridians a 65mph speed limit only to have them do 55. I had one guy stop in the fast lane to get out and kick his tires when there was a full shoulder to pull onto and check. Amazing stupidity can be found there.

Folks, Ronstang is just showing us how the slippery slope works by blindly justifying it.

Ron's basic argument: Because the government can ban/limit one or more freedoms and rights, they can ban/limit all freedoms and rights.

What's the use in arguing against that?

Slippery slope doesn't begin to cover that statement (Ron's). It's a fvcking nose dive into a 2' pool.

He also didn't answer my question, but went into a rant (again) about how they gov't has the right to do x, y, z... :roll:

Does Ronstang happen to indicate an interest in Mustangs (cars)?
<devil's advocate>
We should make a law taxing those gas guzzeling things into obvlion. I mean, the gov't. regulates gas anyways, why not tax the higher useage vehicles more? In the mean time, we should increase the health insurance rates on those who drive them, since there are a lot of accidents with fast cars. I mean, the gov't. regulates all sorts of insurance practices, why not for risky drivers? Then we should make people with fast cars park WAAAAY out in the back of the parking lot. I mean afterall the gov't regulates handicapped parking spots, why not fast car parking spots.
</devil's advocate>

Even if you aren't into fast cars, I'd be willing to bet I can find risky behaviors in your life and show you how gov't regulation of that can be taken too far.
