optimistic, I voted for Netgear because I once had trouble trying to setup a Linksys NIC on an AMD system. Once I replced the NIC w/ a Netgear FA311, and rebooted all was well. Hope this helps :)

I like both a lot. I have more linksys stuff though. Part of it is how netgear often has the rj45 ports on the front of their hubs/switches/etc. But netgear stuff cased in metal. Linksys stuff is all plastic. I dunno, linksys I guess...:)

If you're talking about a nic, whatever is the cheaper. For switches/routers, I prefer netgears. Personal preference really. I dont' think there is any significant performance difference between the two.

I like Netgear because of the blue PCBs they use on their network cards:p (I'm just weird like that)

But according to this review the Linksys beats out Netgears FA310TX & FA311TX network cards.

Netgear housings are nicer and more professional looking but I dont like the ports on front. Linksys looks more appealing but I dont like the cheap plastic casese.
