Poll: Natural Keyboards?

I don't know wheter to get natural or not. My writs hurt after typing for a long time and my friend says that the natural keyboards will help.. will they?

Also, I've been looking around and maybe someone can tell me if this exists, a MS wireless natural multimedia keyboard with wireless intellimouse explorer. I've not seen them together bundled. Anyone?

i cannot stand typing on a "natural" keyboard. i always want to type really fast and i end up hitting keys that I don't want to it.

I've never really tried one of the Natural keyboards, but the standard layout (MX Duo/Elite keyboard is what I'm using specifically) works great for me.

I prefer the natural keyboard, took a bit of getting used to but once adjusted it was much more comfortable. The only bad thing is they suck for gaming.

Hmm, some mixed feelings, I think I should try out the natural before buying one.

You definitely should, my old coworker had one, and i hated working at his console

I use a natural at home. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's more comfortable. I think what I have right now is the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite.

Keep in mind that most split keyboards are noticeably larger than standard keyboards.

I switched over to natural keyboards about five years ago. At first I thought it sucked, but I stuck with it and now I type faster than I ever could on a standard keyboard and the wrist pains have diminished like 90%.

 to split keyboards.

1) There has been no scientific evidence that standard computer use causes pain, and
2) There has been no scientific evidence that split "natural" keyboards ease pain.
3) There is scientific evidence that the best thing you can do is to vary your motions. Thus, you can try to sit in different positions, switch from keyboard to other tasks (including mouse) periodically, or heck even switch keyboards periodically. So how about using both?

Standard keyboards are 70% less likely to catch HIV than natural keyboards....

Oops...confusing threads again...

Voted natural. I never learned to type (correctly) and I find the natural keeps me from doing stuff like hitting the "q" key with my right index finger.

same here, my hands feel cramped on a regular keyboard

While it may not be 'scientific', I personally have much less pain and fatigue when working on a natural keyboard, as opposed to a standard keyboard.

On a standard keyboard, I have to tilt my wrists outward in order to properly rest my fingers on the home keys. Over time, this causes me discomfort on the undersides of my wrists and going into the palm about two inches.

On a natural keyboard, my hands rest naturally on the home keys. Over time I experience much less pain/fatigue this way.

It may be non-scientific, but I certainly benefit from a natural keyboard as far as wrist health and WPM speed. I'm sure I'm not alone here. 😉

It took awhile to get used to using the natural keyboard, but its much easier on the wrists and easier to type on once you get used to it than a normal keyboard if your a touch typest, if your a hunter and pecker stick w/ a normal keyboard.

i use the ms natural multimedia kb. its about 25 dollars oem. well worth it🙂 takes maybe one hour toget used to it. course now using a normal kb feels weird to me

What exhaustive research are you referring to that has led to these statistically significant conclusions?
