  • Beelzebub (already been posted, but that's the correct spelling; means "lord of the flies" or "lord of the dung")
  • Cerebellum (part of the brain, also the name of a computer in the movie Antitrust - IIRC)
  • Cerebrum (another part of the brain)

Charon is a great name. I love Greek mythology. Some others:

The Gatekeeper/The Keymaster :D

Packetmuncher (I like this one)

The Matrix

Phlegethon, Lethe, or Acheron. (rivers in the Greek underworld. Phlegethon is a river of fire, which would be appropriate)

Janus (the two-faced Roman god)

Lord of the Pings

Socket Blocker

It can't be anything overly stupid like "I=r0X0rz", and I'd like to stay away from male reproduction, so dingleberries, whoever he may have been in a previous life, needs not apply.

It's a dual Celeron 333 running FreeBSD 5.

Don't vote yet!

Crap, it didn't form the question for some reason. Oh well, throw them out anyway.

No offense, but thats a waste of a not-totally-useless machine. You can run a firewall on any old P-60 as long as it has PCI slots for your 10/100 nics. Both firewalls will give the same performance.

Dingleberry was the bumbling and inept (and hilarious) watchman in Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing."

I don't give my computers names, just numbers to designate them.

dogberry?

Maybe he doesn't have any P60's paying around?

I use a P2-233, it's the crappiest box I have, and it does sweat quite a bit when pushing 10 Mbit of 3DES/MD5 encrypted traffic, so I wouldn't say power is useless there.

No Poll yet, shenanigans! At least change the tread title to not say poll... how about 'Help name my firewall' And remove 'Don't vote yet.', since there's NO POLL.

And free bump.

It's going to be a firewall, router, webserver, online radio station, and it's going to fold.

I was thinking about putting in a semi-decent video card and selling it, but I don't really want to bother with it.
