Hi.

Im a member of an UT clan, and im looking to buy a new mouse. I had a good eye for the MX1000 until i read about a "lagging" problem some people have.

Read more here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=y&keyword1=mx1000

I decided i wan't to see how big this problem is. So i wan't all of you, who have/had an MX1000 mouse to do the "U-test" as shown in the videos of the other thread, and tell me if you have the same problem.

Yes I have the lag problem (rev 1.4). If the main reason you are getting this mouse is for UT or other FPS's, and you don't mind having a corded mouse, get the MX510. I play FPS games quite a lot as well, but TBH, since I got the MX1000 and started using the whole desk as my mouse pad, I never lift my mouse off the table anymore.

My main problem is that my hands are too big for regular mouse sizes. Im 6'7" or something around there. I noticed that the mx1000 is slightly bigger then most mice, and it should be very precise.

Thx for the answer dude.

Well, if i'd just went after sheer performance, the Razer Diamondback is the only way to go. Not that i doubt the performance of the mx510 at all. But the Razer is ONLY built for fast FPS gaming, and that shows. :)

But as i said, i must be able to use it too, thats why i wan't a "bigger-than-normal" mouse, which still has lots of gaming performance.

I don't mind about it being wireless. I read about there newst technology with "FastRF", which in fact sends as many information Per Sec. than a wire. So no prob there.

No lag with my MX1000 during my normal gaming use,I also have a Razer Diamondback mouse as well(best corded gaming mouse available at this time).

The MX1000 is the best cordless mouse period IMHO at this time, btw new review (Jan 4th 2005)here . The only problem I have with my MX1000 is weight, the Diamondback is so light compared to it ,which means you can do very fast and quick movements, the MX1000 is still a tad lighter then the MX700 mouse.

Hi thx for the answer. Did you try doing the test, as the fellow in the video did?

Sidi0us,I`ve already posted a reply in that thread awhile back,

arredondo, just got my MX1000 today,I don`t have the problem like in your video clips,no lag at all even in sleep mode, as soon you touch it moves instantaniously, also no wobble ,the feet are perfect, infact only problem I have is getting use to the weight.

I wonder if Logitech updated the MX1000 from the very earlier models?..If not I wonder if the mouse sensitivity settings have something to do with it,I`ve mine on medium pointer acceleration, and pointer speed set to mid way.

Battery life seems very impressive,so far pretty impressed but still early days
.

Sidi0us,did you read that lastest review?

Conclusion

I?ll admit that I came into this review a little skeptical. Having used a few cordless mice prior to this review, I always found them a bit laggy and lacking the response time of corded mice. But the Logitech MX1000 completely changed how I look at cordless mice.

It not only delivered a super accurate, smooth tracking laser sensor but a look and comfort that I have not experienced in any mouse. The MX1000 proved not only to be the best cordless mouse I?ve ever used but it?s the best mouse period. For this I?d like to award the Logitech MX1000 the SystemCooling Seal of Excellence.

If it's really comfort and ergonomics you're after, I don't think you can beat the MX1000. I've had my fair share of mouses and the MX1000 is just so comfortable to hold and move around. If you were to go into a local store, the MX1000's box allows you to get a feel for the mouse and I recommend you try it out and see if you like the feel of it.

Yeah, mine "fails" the "u test" but who moves their mouse around like that? If you're constantly picking the mouse up get a bigger mouse pad. I absolutely love my MX1000, there's no lag, it's insanely precise, and it's the most comfortable mouse I've ever used.

EDIT: I'm 6'4" and the MX500\510 is a bit small for my hands but the MX1000 is just about perfect.

hi MDE.

To answer you question: I don't think that anyone in their right mind, would use their mouse the way, shown in the video. But what the video does, is simulate Pick-ups and set-downs of the mouse, xx times in a row. If he just did this one time, noone would really notice what happened. So when i play ut, and someone shoots behind me, it can be fatal, if i can't turn around, recentre my mouse, aim and fire (all within a couple of miliseconds), because the stupid mouse can't be used in 1/4 second after i recentered it.

This would happen, because im a low-sense player, with too little space for the mouse. ;)

Need some more votes here guys, to get a more general picture.
BTW some of the guys with lag-problems, didn't vote "yes".
Another point: Even though the lag-problem doesnt bother you, but the mouse is lagging, please vote yes, because the mouse itself suffers from that particular prob.

No problems here. I can't do your test now because I'm not home, but I've lifted mine many times, and it works instantly.

I'm not in a UT clan, but i do freelance with several clans (low-g zark & pig mostly)...which one are you from outta curiously?

That aside, i got the MX1000, & while i never had that "delay" problem people complained about, i still returned the one i bought, since i found my MX510 a tad more precise still.

I am hoping for a wired MX1000 :D That'd make me a happy guy.

Till then, the MX510 is the way to go, or perhaps the Razer Diamondback.

Another thing that helps is having a big mousepad.
I got a nice 11x17 one...it's much better, since i never ever have to lift up the mouse.

OK the latest news:

I bought the mx1000. It had the Rev 1.4 on the CD sleeve. But as many others, i had the lag issue. Which resultet in me going in various unwanted directions in the game, because, when trying to do a 180 degree turn, i take my mouse, position it on the edge of my mousepad, and drag it either lefter or right into the middle of the mouse pad. But what happens, is that when i position the mouse on the edge and begin dragging, it first starts to move after the 1/4 of a second mentioned before. At the time it begins registrering my movement, the mouse is already in the middle of the mouse pad again. So, i thought i did a 180 degree turn, but im still looking in the same direction.

GOD DAMNIT. I just SO wanted this mouse. Its so comfortable to hold, its precise, smooth. But totally unusable because of the delay. So i returned it in the store, and got myself the MX510, blue. Although it works splendidly, i would rather have a working mx1000.

I can vouce for the MX510, great response, the extra buttons are really hand in FPSs, and optical precision is a huge leap over the old ball mouse I was using.

Yeah the MX510 is a splendid mouse. I reckon that. But it'd be better with a working MX1000.

BTW, if anyone is interested, you can see the clan im playing in here: www.rsclan.net

I've been playing shooters die-hard since Doom and played pretty much all of them since so I know about how important a good mouse is so I always avoided the cordless mice like the plague. But after so many good reviews I said what the heck...

Well my experience after owning it one day is ... I'm going to buy a Diamondback by Razer or what I used to have the MX510.

The problem isn't tracking... it seems pretty good but there IS a slightly noticeable lag... just enough to bother me.... and then if the lag wasn't enough then the major problem... it will actually lose its tracking and jump to the bottom of the screen only for a millisecond mind you. But it's enough to make me miss that most important hit etc etc. Man does that piss me off. I was thinking it may be something interfering but I just think it's the mouse.
