A Gallup survey indicates that in the first half of this year, 78 percent of Muslims approved of the job the president's doing in the White House, while just 24 percent of Mormons give Obama a thumbs up. According to the poll, the president's approval rating among Protestants and other Christians was 43 percent, it stood at 50 percent for Catholics, 61 percent among Jews, 63 percent for Atheists, Agnostics and those with no religion, and 64 percent for those from other non-Christian religions. The president's approval among all Americans stood at 48 percent.

This would be great news for Obama ... if he was president of Pakistan.

If the economy double-dips and the Republicans can a decent candidate (not obvious they can), he may be in trouble.

Are you suggesting it's less important?

I think most religions opinion is nonsense, but one group has more political strength than the other. It's bad news politically if Obama is only hitting it off with Muslims.

Now how about you answer the question instead of deflecting?

Why would anyone be surprised at this?

The Mormons are the most "right-wing conservative" group in the USA. Add to that their disdain for black folks...and Obama couldn't win their favor if the angel Moroni brought him to them personally...

Christians are by far the most powerful group in the US but to say Obama is only doing good with Muslims is ignoring the statistics you posted.

It depends on what they're saying is included in other non-Christians. They already distinguish between Catholics and protestants which is the vast majority of US Christians.

I'm not sure if those Jewish approval ratings are anything to write home about. Jews are another group that traditionally vote Democrat (up to 90%). And I wish non-religious people were a more powerful group, but they're not.

I want to make a topic about this

Is Religion the group protected by the US that is a chosen difference? All the other things people are not allowed to be discriminated against are not things they can change... Yet religion gets to discriminate against others.. how is that JUST?

"I like your Christ but not your Christians" still true today

1st amendment, read it. Civil Rights Act of 1964, read it. Religion is a protected class like many other things.

A) Religion, even a bigoted one like Islam, is protected by the Constitution.
B) I don't think religion should be entitled to the same protections as race and gender because it's a choice you make.

Of course they do. He's one of them.:)

Just because you put a smily face on your post doesnt make it any less ignorant bigoted and stupid.... I have only been posting in P & N for a few months and have just realised the depth of your ignorance. I say ignorance because the other option is your willfully being stupid.

The weak always resort to throwing stones in a civil argument... Did someone take away your toys little man>?

Religion and Interracial Marriage.. and .. what other differences are protected that are only differences because the people made a choice for them to be different?
