Wait, I don't see whats wrong with Listerine. I use that so should I stop? If so what should I use instead?

1. NO ALCOHOL!
2. ALOCHOL dries mouth = bad breath
3. Oxygen kills bacteria in mouth without drying
4. Therabreath at your drug store contain Oxygen
5. Triclosan in Colgate Total kills bad breath

Listerine:
Aqua, Alcohol [...] etc.

It has the ADA stamp on it so I'd use it if I used mouth wash.

You people are so intense about everything!

Mine's usually dry.

Let me repost what I wrote earlier in the other thread:

Any thing that is relatively safe and gives oxygen works.

Most common mouthwash DOESNOT work!
1. It contains alcohol
2. alcohol will kill most of the bacteria, but at the same time dries out your mouth. (no saliva production)
3. the bacteria that wasn't killed will grow back in about 20-30 minutes due to the lack of saliva.

The white stuff on your tongue is actually the visible celluar damage caused by the sulfur gas.
The bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath (sulfur gas) is located in a protective pocket underneath the taste buds. That's why you need to scape your tongue gently.
Use some kind of oxygen contain mouthwash after you brush your tongue. (Therabreath -contains oxygen does work; check your location drug store - OSCO, save-on, walgreens, etc.)

Repeat for about 1-2 weeks, and no more bad breath!!

Section on Toothpaste

Most toothpaste contains Sodium lauryl sulfate, which basically acts to give you the form so you feel like you are really getting your teeth clean. However, sodium lauryl sulfate dries out your mouth!! The end result is the same as alcohol - bad breath.

Do a google or webmd search on Triclosan, I think Colgate Total is the only toothpaste on the market right now in US that contains it. Tricosan is an anti-bacteria agent. It will help alot with your bad breath.

--------------

More info
You MUST get some kind of anti-bacteria OR oxygen to kill those bacteria!
So either use something with triclosan or oxygen in it.

The reason why some people have really bad breath and other don't are mainly due to genetics. Your genetic determines HOW LONG and how far the pocket is on your tongue. Those people with deep pockets are pretty much screwed unless they follow the advice above. Just brushing is NOT enough!
That's why a treatment method that might work for you won't work for another person.

Where to buy tongue scraper?
You can get them at Wal-mart, target, any drug store. They are near the toothbrushes at my local wal-mart.
