Poll: Max Temp. ?

What is the highest temp. you will run your cpu? With the warmer weather my temps. have risen to where my Mother Board Monitor alarm is going off. It was set at 50c then 55c now 60c but I don't know if I should run it that high or even the lower settings. Water cooling is the next step.

Get a Taisol 760092, Delta 6800 rpm fan, and some Arctic Silver II.

50c under load is acceptable, however above 55c could cause some instabilities.

Well, unless your system gets unstable, I would not mind high temps up to 60C.

I personally ran a TBird@1500 for a few weeks at about 60-62C running Seti@Home 24/7.
The system was perfectly stable until one day ouside temps went over 30C and my cpu temp reached 64C. Then it was NOT stable anymore, but these are extremely high temps.

So I bought a SX 1030 with 4 19 cfm fans and now the highest I get is 56C, normally I get 53-54C. Don't have to say, that there are no stability issues.

I've had no problems with instability at the temps I've seen, but was more concerned about physicaly damaging my cpu. Thanks for the info.

Highly dependant on several factors:

A) Ambient Case Temp(not ambient room temp)
B) Motherboard
C) motherboard bios version
D) temp reading program

Dpeending on those factors, you can generally get a "max" reasonable temp for each MB type.

No higher than 45 or 46 for my PIII, generally around 38.
BTW its P3 700 @ 1029 1.85v and I live in FL so I know what you all are taking about with the rising summer temps.
