Poll: Marshmallows in fudge

Chaotic42

I'm whipping up another batch of fudge, but I'm making it much darker this time. I bought walnuts and marshmallows to put in it, but I'm thinking about skipping the marshmallows.

What are your thoughts?

I prefer my fudge straight-up ... no walnuts or marshmallows for me.

But since i doubt I'll be eating any of yours, I selected "don't care" in the poll.

Meh, I already made it that way. It was so sweet that it was inedible, so I doubled the chocolate and I'm going to try and mediate it with something else.

Putting marshmallows in would just ruin decent chocolate. Blech.

I wouldn't so much call it decent as I would call it... frugal. I don't have much selection here.

The sugary taste and chewy texture of marshmallows ruins nice chocolately fudge though.

I don't like it as much when it's straight. I like walnuts in it, but I can't really say yes or no to the marshmallows. I don't think I've ever had fudge with marshmallows in it.

Perhaps a fudge and marshmallow swirl...🙂

its like styrofoam filler in perfectly good fudge. i hate it in ice cream too...munching on nice rich goodness and then suddenly its like ur chewing on a shipping peanut

i like the old style fudge, nothing but chocolate.

recipe is on the Hershey's cocoa can.

warning- not for amateurs. can be a bitch to make, you need to know how to cook to get it to come out right.

Mine is very similar:

-2 3/4 cups white sugar
-7oz unsweetened chocolate
-3 tbsp butter
-1 tbsp light corn syrup
-1 cup half & half
-1 tbsp Vanilla extract

The cooking method is the same. The last time I made it, I poured it at 110F and it set up too fast, so I started stirring at 125F or so. I only used walnuts.

sounds good, but the corn syrup changes the texture; some people probably prefer it because it's less rich.

i would put the marshmellows in there. it will "lighten" up the fudge and give it an airy texture and flavor. 🙂

I voted... don't care, since I don't like marshmallows (unless you're using them to make Rice Krispie Treats) and am indifferent about the walnuts.
