He may have been a pothead, but he was a friend. I tried to get him to stop ( along with others ) but it never worked. Most just attribute it to the curse on the school. A student has been killed every year since it opened. He was the first. He did get a stop light though. Right where he was killed. The town even blamed the truck driver. From what I understand, he steped out about 30' in front of the truck. the limit on the road there was 45. He didn't have a chance.

On the first day of school, the first year the school was open.

At Bartlett High School, we may not have many traditions that stay with us year after year. Being a new school still, we are constantly seeing change and making things better or worse. But there is one thing that has stayed with us, ever since the first day of school, back in 1997. This shocking tradition has plagued our school, every single year and unless some changes are made, this plauge will continue to run rampant.

It began with the death of Clayon Clark. On the first day of school, he was hit by a truck, while trying to cross Army Trail Road. His death marked the beginning of the tradition at BHS. Every year someone dies. <snip>

And supposedly haunted. Look for "Bartlett".

Bartlett - Bartlett High School - The power goes out on important dates (such as final exams), music wont play during pep rallies when the dance team is up to perform, and the school has never gone an entire year without experiencing a death of a student or staff member.
