Rhode Island style is better than either one. It's made with a clear broth, so you can taste the ingredients. But very few places outside of Rhode Island and Connecticut make it well and most people don't even know it exists.

You're right, I'm a webfoot living in the Pacific NorthWest (Portland, OR) and have never heard of it.

Nope. I only recently found out what Manhattan Chowdah is. I'll do some asking around, when I find a good place I'll let you guys know.

My g/f's Manhattan is better than any NE I've ever had. Then again, she's actually starting to get notoriety around Seattle for her soups, so maybe that shouldn't count.
