every year they come out with this "code of conduct" review which I have signed many many times. things like "don't bribe elected officials" and "don't accept gifts from vendors". well I'm sick of it! it reminds me of the loyalty oaths in Catch-22. swear your fealty and sign it or you don't eat.

I think I'm gonna not sign and see what the repercussions are.

Since you feel that way, just don't make it obvious that you are not going to sign. You may not ever hear about it again until next year.

When I don't want to sign stuff, I just sign Ted Nugent.
I used to argue, it's not worth my time.
I started signing that way when receiving ups packages. Someone started bitching when something got lost that I signed for.
I put an end to that foolishness right there.

Loyalty is earned, not indentured.

like your job?

sign it.

Wanna be without job? Don't sign it.

Not signing a code of conduct is a pretty dang serious dent in your career.

A guy named Yossarian complains that a life event reminds him of Catch-22. Classic! Just be thankful there's no dead man living in your tent :)

I'd just Lose it and forget to turn it in and see what happens. Would depend on what specifically is mentioned.

How old are you? You're throwing a hissy fit about signing a stupid piece of paper that basically makes you NOT do what you were already NOT going to do. WOAH! Real tough.

Go ahead, be the tough guy. But when your boss is told by HR three months later that they don't have signatures from everyone in his group, there's no telling what he'll do. Maybe it will be very small, but even still, why affect your career AT ALL in a negative way? Is it SO fvcking hard to just sign it?

And yes, you can just lie and say you signed it and it was lost, but again, why fvck with this?

At my company, they changed some of the benefits around and we had to sign the papers all over again. The question came up "What if we don't sign?". The answer: "When you were hired, you signed a form saying that the terms can be changed at any time. So it really doesn't matter if you agree or not."

Yup, that's employee-employer relations for ya.

I wasn't loyal to my employer when I chosen to use similar services at home by someone else other than my employer's services.

isn't that considered "bonding"

many companies have that, not surprising.

Citigroup does that, but i understand why, because they have a reputation to uphold when it comes to employees.

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.

"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed.
