POLL: Lowest workhour/Highest pay ratio?

Just out of curiosity, what would you think is the highest paying job per hours worked? Please consider medical options and risks taken as well . . ..

I'm tired of all of the damned soldiers rolling up in BMWs and then bitching about how hard their jobs are. Bunch of prissy babies. They work what, like once every 5 years?

By soldiers you mean... what? Obviously not anyone in the true military since it'd take one of us 15+ years of spending nothing on anything, not even food or rent, to save up for a BMW.

Sports athletes. Take a look at Shawn Kemp, he gets paid millions to sit on his ass and play 10 minutes a game. He is praised if he scores 10 points a game, which is considered excellent for him.

So was I.
It'd really take us 20 years to save up for a beamer. 😉

Astronomical :Q
I think when considering "Professional Sports Athlete", you need to take into account the amount of time they spend training and honing their skills.

doctors work tons of hours and are on call...unless you go to like some private hmo...but then you'd just be a doctor for the money.

Actors can work on movies for yrs, training, working everyday...of course then they don't have to work for x more...

I'd say carsalesman...probably just work normal shift, and if you're good can make a good amount. And or selling property.

other: psychologist....not psychitrist but psychologist or successful djs

why do you people say atheletes? atheletes train alll the time for their jobs so they work quite a bit it might not be exactly a game but its towards their job

no, because many ametuers hone to the same level.

and do we include advertising as actors/actresses, or sports stars, because for a sports person, the real money is in ads. turns that 4 million a season into 40 million. 😉

really pathetic, if you ask me. professional sports is the devil.. actors/actresses are the devil (for the most part) too 😛

and for that matter, rosie o donnel is the devil too. um... as is ellen degenerous... and joan rivers, and george clooney, and... ... the list goes on....

owning lots of franchises/having a business

i think magic johnson gets aroudn 100k an hour... he owns several starbucks, tgifridays, his movie theaters... a buncha stuff

Hmm...wondering about the justification behind this. You do realize that practicing psychologists require a Ph.D in psychology, right? And to get said Ph.D in clinical psychology requires an average of 5-7 years. Couple that with the fact that getting into a good psychology program rivals the difficulty of being accepted to medical school, and I'd say they're about equal.

But that's just my opinion.

And out of that list, I'd probably say...hmm...professional sports athlete. Many of them train year-round and such, but almost as many have a hard time just making it to required work-out sessions.

I'd say Professional athletes, though some Actors can make just as much money, and only work like a couple monthes of the year.

Whomever said Doctor is mistaken. Most Doctors work a LOT of hours (like 80+ hours per week), as well as being on call all the time. Then they pay tens of thousands of dollars for malpractice insurance since a 5 second screw up can otherwise cost them their life savings. (everyone makes mistakes)

Firemen may make decent pay, but its not a huge amount, and they actually do provide a critical service.

Teachers are underpaid, they spend a whole bunch of time in school teaching, and then even more hours grading papers and such.

Soldiers don't get paid much either. They do get creat training, and the abillity to play with cool toys and travel, but they do have to work their asses off for countless hours.

Actor. A pro athelete cannot make $20 million in 30 days (unlike harrison ford in that sub movie). They have to train constantly and watch their food whereas an actor can simply stay reasonably fit (some not even) and crank in some serious cash in a short time.

also on average pro atheletes done make that much.

you only think of nfl and nba guys. the amount of time usbl, aba2000 basketball players spend training has got to be as much and likely more than nba guys (well yeah they have to if they wanna get to a better league) and they get paid jack.

same with minor league baseball. and how about sports like pro volleyball. and same greco roman wrestling, etc... small sports.

the bring the average of pro atheletes down a lot. i will have to say a CEO of some company. they dont have a minor league for CEOs.

actors/actresses, there are tons of struggling actor/actresses out there. i mean look at the joey character from friends etc.

Oh yeah whoever said doctor, fireman, or soldier is a crack head!

Firstly doctors make a lot but nothing compared to a top actor and I guarantee they work a hell of a lot more hours.

Firemen make like $500/year. OK that's an exageration. $600. They don't do it for the money.

Soldiers make crap. I think the general who led the most recent effort in Iraq makes like $150k/year. It's not a field to get in to get rich. Plus needless to say you sink in a lot of hours.

That and the fact that before an MD makes any money they're probably 30 and have to spend the next several years (or more) paying down student loans.

Christ, look at those two jail bait twins from Full House. They're worth I think hundreds of millions now. Name anybody EVER in history who was worth that much at the same age without it being the result of an inheritance. They've actually "earned" (I say that loosely) the money themselves.
