I personally think I am headed straight to heaven. I never had the opportunity to hurt someone, have premarital sex or just be a dick about things.

My only crime is not believing in God and I am sure the he wouldn't be such a dick to send me to Hell for not believing in him. I am sure he'd forgive me for my occasional bouts of chronic masturbation also, but it's his fault for not sending a mate my way.

This is true. Purgatory is a recent, man-made addition to scripture to make people of certain denominations feel better about damning infants.

Sorry but willfully dismissing god is one of the worst sins you can commit in the eyes of Christians. In fact in due time with enough piety and praying people can be forgiven murder depending on the circumstances, but never dismissal of god. Religion is really fucked up.

My understanding is that purgatory is reserved for those who never got a chance to hear "gods word" and therefore never had the chance to choose. Pagans living in the jungle for example who have never met a priest.

On a side note, I have a group of friends that call me "god". We were out quad riding and the woman in front of me was having trouble getting over some rocks. I was behind her and I got off my quad to help. As I walked up her quad it started to tip backwards. I grabbed onto the back and pushed her off the rocks.
She thought she was going to tip over backwards and then all of a sudden felt herself going forward. She looked back and all she saw was one of my hands. "The hand of god".

That amuses me too. Hardcore believers seem to think that you need only look at a mountain or a sunset to "see God," thus it would seem that these people living in remote areas are just as guilty of being nonbelievers as any other atheist.
