POLL: laptop ppl, touchpad or the eraser head thingy? which do u like more?

I've used both. For me, it's touchpad, no contest. I can never get really comfortable with a pointstick, eraserhead, etc. Also, while I can mostly get used to the "drift" problem that's inherent in most sticks, it never really stops bugging me, just a little bit.

I play guitar, so my dexterity can't be all that bad -- but using an eraser head just makes me think of trying to build a picture frame with a 16-lb. sledge hammer.

I can't stand trackpads. Trackpoint (eraser head) are much more precise and easier to use. That and you don't have to worry about disabling your trackpad everytime you want to type.

My Dell laptop has both the eraser tip and a touch pad, and I hate them both equally. Well, I probably hate the touchpad more. Before I disabled it I'd find myself typing along and all of a sudden I'm typing in some other window from where my wrist brushed the darned thing. Unless I'm going to be using the laptop in my lap I always plug in an external mouse.

The sorry excuses that laptops have for mice truly suck. I can understand why a normal corded mouse wouldn't work well on the road, but I think putting a trackball in the laptop would be a better option than either of the 2 common ones.

Can't vote. No choice for "neither". I don't like either one for the reasons others have mentioned. I just plug in a mouse 99.99% of the time

I try to use a portable mouse whenever possible. But if I'm faced with the choice I'll take the trackpad easily. Can't stand those eraser heads.

Meh...I use the touchpad more often. But the eraser head is just fine and dandy (I used to use it all the time on my mom's old laptop...my new t40 has both and I don't mind either).
