$1 / hour, and serve starbucks coffees. Then you can make a fortune on drinks, and the LAN will just be the draw. :)

And have you noticed that people tend to be less irritating when their opponent is in the same room? ;)

At the LAN gaming place here I've seen people get up out of their chairs and begin beating the sh!t out of someone because they got pissed at them. I'd say the strangest act of violence I've seen here is a guy ripping the mouse from a computer and chucking it at a guys head.

Years back during the Quake / C&C / Starcraft era (before cable/dsl and fast comps), me and my friends would go to a local lan place (only one in the area). They charged $8 an hour...talk about rape!

However now, the lan place wasn't profitable, so the owner converted it to a paintball shop.

Was there drink/food available there? Sounds like he was just trying to make profit from $8/hr LAN.

The one near where I live has 184 computers hooked up. They aren't the best ever, but they have cs, and battlefield 1942 (bunch of others but those are the only 2 I really play... and cs not so much). They only charge $1 per hour. Its so damn cheap they could charge more but they don't for some reason. Oh well I am not complaining, but $5 an hour is way too much if you ask me. Maybe $2-$3 per hour max would be acceptable... or charge a certain fee for the first hour and then if you stay longer than an hour it is less for every hour after that (ie $4 for the first hour and $2 for every hour after that) Oh and I live in Canada so thats only like 74 cents an hour in American money.

There's one around here with about 20 - 30 rigs and I think they're 3/hr for members, 5 for non members. I guess there's a membership fee but I don't know what it is, only been there a couple times to check it out.

After 1 year if your business is still alive, raise your prices to around $8/yr.
