I was the first one to suggest that Klipsch offered the 4.2's (dual 2.1's) because they are way backordered for the 4.1's. But then again, I have a very suspicious nature.
I e-mailed Klipsch and asked what the sonic difference between the 4.1 and 4.2 system is.
I know from owning Klipsch home speakers (stacked La Scalas - talk about bass and volume - my neighbor from the next block asked me to turn them down) that they are unbelievably efficient.
I doubt that the 35 vs. 60 watts to the satellites would make more than 2 or 3 db difference.
Anyway, I'll post their answer.
BTW, how "bad" really are the old v.2-400's? I might be able to pick up a set for about $160. Are the new ones that much of a difference - I know the preamp was upgraded to remove the hiss and control knob static in the later v.2-400s. I no longer play my music above moderate levels.
