I am going to get my son one of the two for Christmas. I am leaning towards the kitten...they are much friendlier I think.

UPDATE: I decided on the kitten, and thought as long as I was getting one, I might as well get two...I will post pics when I get a chance

Their names are Pebbles and Patches, cute huh?

I dunno, I've never seen a vicious bunny before except in Monty Python: The Quest for the Holy Grail :)

but can you get it to hold still while you put a pancake on its head?

Cat.

Get the cat. Rabbits do not make great pets unless you liked to see things caged up. A cat will pretty much take care of itself, all you have to do is feed it and change the litter.

Bunnys are boring and it will end up dying in a cage dejected, lonely, and the family won't care about it. It's no better than a gerbil.

Get him a kitten.

I vote kitten, less traumatic. Not many recipies that start with "1. Preheat Oven to 450, 2. Take 1 fresh kitten"

Rabits are rodents. They gnaw on stuff. My sister has one. Keeps it inside. It stinks (literally) and chews on everything. She keeps it in the upstair bathroom and the damn thing tries to jump in the shower with you and misses its litter box all the time so there are little turd-balls all over the place. Rabbits are good for making glove lining, that's all. :p

Skoorb is right. After a few weeks the animal loses it's "new toy" appeal. A rabbit at that point will be neglected. It's unable to care for itself for the most part, and what Skoorb siad will happen.

The cat will stand at your feet and meow when it's hungry, it'll force you to keep it fed this way. It'll also keep itself interesting by jumping up on your lap when you're watching TV, and chasing strings and things around the house. The rabbit doesn't do any of this stuff, and it will be quickly forgotten about.
