Is it just me or is the Kenwood 72x CD-ROM a piece of crap? I used benchmarking utilities after noticing that it wouldn't read CD-Rs that well and didn't seem to transfer at the rated 68-72x.
Well, I ran "cdspeed99" on:
Pioneer 16x DVD 40x read,
Plextor 12x10x32
Kenwood 72x
Here were the results:
Pioneer:
41x max with CD, CD-R or CD-RW
Plextor:
31.8x max with CD, CD-R OR CD-RW
Kenwood:
21x max with CD
7x max with CD-R and CD-RW (if it reads it at all)
Does anyone have one of these Kenwood drives and if so, does it work as crappy as mine?
By the way, yes DMA is enabled...I even tried it with DMA disabled and the results were worse.
Thanks!
