Let's see what the makeup of this forum is like...we debate about it all the time so let's get down to the meat and potatoes.

Here are my definitions of Domestic and Import:

Domestic: Home base company is located here in the U.S. For example, even though the Chrysler Concorde may be built in Canada, I would classify that as a domestic model.

Import: Home base company is located outside the U.S. For example, a Camry or Accord may be built in the U.S. but their home offices are in Japan.

<< Domestic- 97 Ford Explorer GT >>

Ummmm, I don't think that Ford makes an Explorer GT...they make a Sport, XLT, XLS, Sport Track, Eddie Bauer, and Limited.

NFS4, I believe in the mid 90's Ford put a 5.0 engine in the Explorer for a while (or was it the 4.6??) I don't know what the model of that Explorer was called.

I've had 14 (soon to be 15-16, since I'm having bad luck with my Celica) cars that I've considered my own, and only one has been a true domestic, but three were American branded Japanese cars. I might bring my domestic count up to two, because I'm thinking of buying a freshly retired police cruiser this summer. I can probably buy a '96 for about $5,000. Sweet deal for a car with less than 90,000 miles and perfect maintenance all the way through, plus I might not get so many tickets anymore. :)

It was still either labled an XLT, Eddie Baur, or Limited. The only difference was that there was a little V8 label on the front fenders between the front doors and the front wheel well.

Wow, I'm surprised that the Domestic side of the graph is keeping up!

Main car is a 1997 VW GTI vr6.
Winter car is a 1992 Mitsubishi Expo LRV sport.
Both solid cars.
