That said, my next car will be a Honda S2000, 100% Japanese and built in Suzuka.

No, most people think their "Toyonda" is so awesome because it's a brand with decades of building reliable cars behind them, and there's no reason to think that that's changing, regardless of where they're built.

If GM/Ford weren't union shops, I bet they'd do better too:p

mazda is controlled by ford. i don't think ford is even the majority owner of mazda.

According to wikipedia, Ford controls 35% of Mazda.

exactly. subtle, but important difference. if they owned mazda they could self deal to their hearts' content. say, by rolling all the money from mazda into platforms shared by ford cars, and then taking the profits on the ford side of the business. they can't do that now (unless japanese corporate law blows) because it'd mean that the other mazda shareholders take the r&d risk and share in none of the gain.

Their research is flat out wrong, because half the Camry's and Accords sold in the U.S. are imported from Japan.

My car is an import, then I read the second line, and realized I should have answered domestic. My Altima was assembled in Smyrna, TN.

I want one of those. In Grand Prix White with red interior. :( Maybe by the end of the year.

Anyway, my car is an import. Made in Germany, designed by a Japanese guy. :)
