I found this wallpaper from who-knows-where a while back, and I was wondering, is it a render, a photo, or a composite of the two?

Note the really sharp, straight lines where the sky meets the roof. Then again, note the rock-wall on the left.

It's got some sort of digital editing to it. If the picture was taken with the focus in the middle of the picture resting at the hight of the crisp part of the downspout, you would also see the same crisp picture quality at the same hight along the side of the house at the stucco or the wood siding.

If it's a real picture, it's got to be doctored.

I have no comment. If I were to comment, it would be along FFM;s coment. And I am tired of agreeing with him.

Looks like both to me. Either that or it's all digital. Doesn't really look like an un-edited picture.

I'd guess it's all rendered. They probably took digital pictures of the rock walls, and used those as diffuse colour maps on the geometry.

I'm saying its a composite.
The stucco and shingled surfaces look very real.
The window on the right-hand side just doesn't look quite right.
The patch of blue sky indicates to me fair weather and decent light which belies the dreary coloration of the surfaces.

And, the most telling feature, as Nik points out, is the depth of field fluctuating--the foreground of the sides is crisp, while the foreground of the central column is blurry.

I'd say if anything it's real.. but of course, with some touch ups i guess you'd have to call it composite.. so who really knows.. it's part real for sure though, that's fo' sheezee.
