I never had a problem with doing that. Then again, ive never fully consumed a drink, usually is about half done by the time i pay for it.

if i'm in need of a beverage i have done it and have no problem doing it again. It only becomes thievery if you dont pay for it.

Yes it's fine.

Just make sure you aren't so drunk that you forget you didn't pay for it yet, and throw it at a poster of Justin Timberlake that's giving you a weird look.
Then you'll probably be confronted by wal-mart security when you try to leave.

If you're in a huge as supermarket, then it would seem a little odd. If you're on a little corner grocery store, then you're only a couple steps from the front door anyways, so it seems fine.

I've done it before. Just as long as you pay for it and don't make a mess, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I usually get so drunk that I forget to pay... or they just throw me out dispite my attempts to make the payment. Nobody accepts payments in nature anymore

There's nothing wrong with it.

And how could anyone "forget to pay"? You have an empty drink container!

Because dishonest people have a whole supermarket to ditch the bottle in.

I've seen people order sandwiches from the delis, eat them and not pay too.

I've never done it myself.

As long as someone pays for it when they are done thats fine.. but I would be ok if a store did not allow it because I'll bet alot of people conveniently forget to pay, or just leave the empty in the diary aisle.

As a fellow shopper, I frown on that. Those people eventually drop the drink (due to cart pushing with 1 hand, grabbing an item with the 2nd hand, and holding the drink with the 3rd hand). Oh wait, there isn't a third hand. They often end up spilling everywhere, sticking up the floor and all the merchandice around.

Why put the rest of us through that mess? Just buy a cold drink at the front as you enter, down it, then shop.

My mom use to do that for me as a child...most likely to shut me up. It seemed acceptable. She always paid for it.

no i don't think so since you haven't bought it yet.

In Hawaii, at Walmart, there was this Hawaiian water that was dirt cheap compared to the rest. I bought one, went outside to taste it, then came back to buy the 12-pack. Moral issue.

Now what if I decided to drink it in the store before paying for it, and didn't like it. Would I be inclined to still pay for the drink when I checked out with the rest of my stuff or just put it back somewhere else (since it was pennies anyway) ? That's not right.

Buy before you open, even to get a paid-for sticker on it then come back to the aisles... I don't know where people originally get the idea it's ok. Store managers may be ok with it but that doesn't mean it's right. They don't go around thinking it's ok unless they see it's already happened.

I think it's really tacky. I won't let my kids eat something until we have paid for it and left the store. I don't care whether the store minds or not, I think it's bad manners.
