I notice a HUGE obvious, difference between the two.
Why that difference exists is beyond me, but I believe it does.
I mentioned this to someone and he told me it was my imagination.
I think Walmart attracts a much lower class of person.
Don't know why.

Wow, nice. Only low-life losers shop at Walmart? Thanks for the heads up!

Cheap prices, wider selection of said cheaply priced products... tire/oil service for your car? Target tries to cater to young twentysomethings that want to have houses like they see on those HGTV flip shows, and have somewhat higher prices.

People who shop exclusively at Target seem to have a stick up their arse like they are 2cool4skewl.

I immediately get depressed when I walk into a Walmart. I just can't explain it.

Yes. A study a while back found that Target customers make an average of $10k/year more than Walmart customers. I believe it was largely because Target has (or had) nicer, more stylish clothes, and as a result of that Walmart has been working to improve their clothing selection.

To an extent, I agree.

I'd say that I can show you any example or type of person at either store for the most part. I know people living in multi million dollar homes that still go to Wal*Mart even if Target is the closest. I know people with lower incomes that go to Wal*Mart as the stereotype is as well. The one difference though, is that I only know people in the middle class and above that shop at Target, the ones below it don't for the most part.

I'd say Wal*Mart shoppers are of all incomes and I'd say that the richest people I know in terms of money, shop at WalMart.

Absolutely. Target is marketed directly at middle to upper middle class women while Walmart...is not.

Target shoppers have all of their teeth.

And yes finch, I'm an exclusive Target shopper now. I got tired of wasting my time there so I just stopped going. Every time I went I'd usually end up getting disgusted at the constant cart snarls in the aisles designed for one cart to pass through, and just leave my crap there and walk out. I ALWAYS find myself getting a migrane headache whenever I try to shop there.

But seriously, I don't consider myself better than the next guy, nor do I have a stick in my ass, but I am glad Walmart people stick to Walmart and don't come to Target.

Oh, and ever since our Walmarts took ALL of the Express lanes and turned them into self checkouts I've said "fvck it". I hate those d@mn things, I'd rather interact with a person.

Target doesn't use that crap.

what's even worse about Walmart is the fact that they have 50 registers for some ungodly reason because I never see more than a handful open at any given time, if that.

That sounds right and goes along with my observation that the lower class is generally missing from Target.

there seems to be hotter MILFs at target.

Since Walmart is closer to me than Target, I go there most of the time when I need misc stuff.

The girls that work at Target seem to usually be hotter.

Yes. Pay a premium for the exact same products so you can look at MILFs and teenyboppers you have no chance in hell of ever nailing.

That makes perfect sense.

i got to both, just depends on which one is more convienant. I buy food and groceries at walmart, car batteries, and once in a while a dvd. It also depends where the walmart is. The walmart in Orange attracts a better group of people then the ones in small towns in GA.

Meh - purely a matter of convenience for me, and not being surrounded by white trash. I realize not all Wal-Marts have an abundance of white trash, but the one where I live most certainly does.

Aside from that, they're also usually not mentally retarded. It seems like Walmart goes out of their way to employ mentally retarded people. Possibly so they look good for giving jobs to people who otherwise couldn't/wouldn't have jobs. Possibly because mentally retarded people work for cheap. Probably a little from column A and a little from column B. My local Target employs at least one mentally retarded guy, but he brings the carts in from the parking lot. At Walmart they put them on the cash registers.

I notice a difference, but I also notice a difference between Raleys and Safeway in my area, that is the inverse of the Raleys and Safeway near where I grew up. So I think for my area it just boils down to the people that live around it and management of the stores themselves.
