He is a god among mere mortals.

Look at his QB rating. He's 20 points ahead of the next guy. To whoever is saying this is due to the new rule emphasis - explain that.

On that note, I think Giants got a defective Manning. Wonder if he's still under warranty.

Geezus Ch1st! I have grown sick and tired of everybody talking about Peyton Manning as if he's having the best season ever. Just look at the defenses he's played against. Add on to that the fact that he plays indoors at home, in ideal conditions. Add on the fact that he has a great running back in Edgerrin James that defenses have to worry about also. Take any decent QB, and he'll have a pretty good year in that situation. I agree Peyton is good, but I can't wait for his butt to get handed to him when he plays the Steelers.

 I don't care how good your team is, or how bad the teams you are playing are(although he's in the AFC...the last place team in the AFC can beat the first place team in the NFC, so they really aren't that bad), the numbers he is putting up are absolutely unreal, end of story. Having a great running back is certainly a huge help to taking the pressure off the passing game, but only to an extent. Troy Aikman was a great QB but never put up huge numbers, BECAUSE he had a great running back too.

Well, we'll see. He's playing Steelers and Ravens next. Btw, I'm pretty sure that he makes guys around him look better than they are. For example, Stokely was a crappy receivers for the Ravens, then goes to Colts and all of a sudden becomes a pro-bowler? I'm sure same is true for Edge. It's easy to run when defenses constantly have 8 guys in coverage.

Oh, are you a Steelers fan? Do you know how tired this Ben Roethlesberger stuff is? Yea, he's doing exceptional for a rookie...but A) the team has a great defense B) the team has a great running game C) the team has a great line D) he throws 15 times a game. He's certainly having a stellar rookie season, but come on he's no godsend that is taking over the game.

I watched Steelers-Jets game yesterday. For a rookie - Ben is a great QB. Compared to to good veteran QBs - not even close.

Oh yeah, he's human alright, with only one playoff win under his belt in his life, you'll surely see how human he is this year in the playoffs :)

Until then, the TD record is a hell of an achievement.

He has 2 wins :) And actually it'll be very interesting to see him play NE and Pitzburgh because you know he'll have to score on every posession to have a chance against those teams.

I am not a Steelers fan. I was referring to a possible Steelers/Colts matchup in the playoffs. The Ravens will be the litmus test next week. They haven't played a harder defense than the Ravens yet. Here's the Scoring Defense stat for the Colts schedule (Game 1 to Game 14)

NFL rank for Scoring Defense
5 (loss)
25
22
7
31
7 (loss)
28 (loss)
24
23
12
18
25
23
4 (next game vs. the Ravens)

Every win except for one came against teams ranked in the lower half of the league in defense. In that one win against Jacksonville in Week 4, Peyton threw for 220 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT.

If Peyton can win back to back games in Pitts and New England, then maybe we can start talking about being more than human. Remember, no one could shut up about his play against KC and Denver in the AFC playoffs last year. And what did that get him. A flight home from New England to watch the Super Bowl on TV.

No, thanks to their utter lack of an offense, but he did throw for 4 TD's in that game.

that's not really a compelling argument.

make a list of teams he's thrown 4+ td's against and see how many other QB's have been able to duplicate the feat.

why is it so hard to admit he's played well this season. even in the losses, the colts have put up decent offensive numbers, just their defense failed them. peyton is not responsible for defensive failures.

in their losses, the colts scores, 24, 24 and 35.

24 pts should win most games in the NFL, 35 should be a guaranteed win in the NFL.

Are you serious? The guy's played 4 full games, and they were against some of the toughest defenses in the NFL. Look at his opponents (with rank in parenthises, ypg = passing yards allowed per game):

Atlanta - 36 Sacks (7-t), 15 INTs (13-t), 236.9 ypg (22)
Philly - 42 Sacks (1), 15 INTs (13-t), 224.2 ypg (15)
Washington - 30 Sacks (14-t), 13 INTs (18-t), 191.0 ypg (3)
Baltimore - 36 Sacks (7-t), 17 INTs (4-t), 204.0 ypg (9)

Plus, now he's got to face:

Steelers - 38 Sacks (3-t), 13 INTs (16-t), 193.2 ypg (4)

That's not even right. The only teams as good as them are the Patriots, the Colts (they give up a lot of yards, but 41 sacks puts them in second in the NFL), and the Bucs (tied with the Pats for sacks at 37 and 2nd in the NFL in ypg allowed; they and Miami are in a league of their own as far as ypg is concerned). There is no way that you could get any more unlucky as far as schedule goes in the NFL today.

How bad did you think Brees was last year? How bad did Carson Palmer look until just a few weeks ago? David Carr... well, you could probably say he's never going to be an incredible QB in the NFL. Plus, look at his receiving corps!! Toomer and Hilliard? Toomer is old and Hilliard is just not good. If it weren't for Shockey and Barber, they wouldn't have anybody that knows how to make plays. Then add the fact that their offensive line is terrible, and what do you have??? No chance for Manning to make plays. He shows intelligence in many areas, and he's got the natural talent neccessary to succeed. The mistakes he's making are just things he'll learn to get past with experience, and I just hope the Giants give him the chance instead of pulling him because of fans that don't know any better.

One point to note: I really don't care at all about the Giants, I just take a special interest in watching rookie QBs mature.

Relax, I was just kidding. Of all the Giant fans I'm one of the biggest Manning supporters since the draft day.

I've been a fan since he was in college, but he's still human. He's awesome at taking advantage of the team he has and he's good at making plays. He may very well end up being the best QB ever.

It will be interesting to say the least, I just hope that the Pats haven't gotten soft from playing such average teams as of late. When and if we meet up in the playoffs, it should be an awesome matchup :)

Peyton has put up AMAZING numbers, but against who now--for the most part poor-mediocre teams. Hell Houston gave them a game yesterday.

I guarantee you they will not get past Pitt or NE in the playoffs. It was already shown the better defensive team will win vs Colts despite the rules changes (and don't kid yourself that it wasn't Martz and Dundgy being the main complainers).

Both Pitt and NE will be able to beat Indy.

Also due to Peyton's contract, I am curious what kind of team they will be able to field in the future.
They ain't winning nothing until they can improve their Defense.
