Question is as is. Take it to mean whatever you think and discuss.

I for one think man was born with sin and is therefore naturally evil.

Man really naturally neither good nor evil, just selfish. Its a survival instinct.

Uhmm no this would more of a nature versus nurture type of thread unless you turn it into a religion one.

good and evil are social constructs made up by man, so how can an intrinsic value be a social construct, my best answer would be that it is a function of time.

Is man naturally (inherently) good or evil?

I'd certainly love a stab at that question (he he he), but can anyone first tell me what good and evil are?

Cheers ! :)

Man is neither inherently good nor inherently evil. Man is inherently self serving. Depending on his morals, man can satisfy his needs whichever way he chooses.

If you can't see that the NY firefighters' altruistic acts of heroism aren't a clear testament to Man's good nature, you are being cynical. Evil is just a virus. When properly cleaned, you'll be left with nothing but goodness. :D

When something is "properly" cleaned, what prevents virii from immediately entering again? Can we assume something without evidence?

Man is naturally selfish. To see an example of this, look at babies. They are aware of only themselves, and care only for themselves.

Also, the fact that we have so many "sharing/giving/caring for others" stories seem to show that caring for others is something that needs to be taught.

They are aware of only themselves, and care only for themselves.

Do babies have ego without language? Are they aware of duality? If not, we cannot make the claim that they are selfish, but they are selfish relative to our notions.

Cheers ! :)

The co-action of particles. But I still don't get what he/she is trying to say...

There is an easy test to ascertain Man's nature. Look into your heart (figuratively please) and ask yourself, "Am I a good person or a bad one?"

Wow, what a loaded question. I would have to say that man is born with the tendancy to experiment with what he sees as evil, but the desire to aspire to what he perceives as good;) Answer "is as is, take it to mean whatever you think."
