Poll: Is it wrong to cook food, but only cook enough for yourself?

Heres the story... 2 other roommates. I cook food. I sit down and eat food. Roommates give me dirty look for only cooking enough for myself.

Should have I cooked enough for 3, or its plenty ok for just myself? I dont have a car, so I haul my own groceries on my bicycle for about a mile or so, and I pay for all my groceries myself.

I would pick Yes, but I would be out of food and money quick
I would pick No, but I feel bad.

EDIT: I cooked for them for a week, ending today, since my gf pressured me. I guess they got used to it. I'll go blame myself. In other news, roommate one makes a sandwich with my lunchmeat, and roommate two defrosts a microwave dinner thats mine.

EDIT 7/25: Went to store, fridge stocked up. I come back from school, many items missing. GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Given your explaination you have no obligation to share and if they treat you poorly over it..............Next time cook something horrible tasting so they won't want your cooking anymore ;)

Well, I might be facing this very same debacle in about 6 months, and not actually being been in this situation, I would have to say that if my roommate were a good friend of mine (or a chick), I would offer first. If my roommate was just some guy, then I would just make the food...

I've taught my apt. mates to make their own stuff and now once in a while we all take turns cooking for each other. But in answering your question it's not wrong not to cook for others at all.

Circumstances? Guys living together, I buy my own food. Cook with only my own tools.

Is everyone else sitting around looking at you just after you've had a conversation about how hungry everyone is? Did someone say that they'd love some Spaghetti, then you go and make just enough spaghetti for yourself? Is no one else home at the moment? Are they all full from already eating dinner?

Yes, it depends on the circumstances.

Oh those circumstances.

No I didn't talk about food.
I didn't think anyone was hope, due to their room doors closed, but they came out when food was smelled.
No they havent ate, heck, I dont think they eat anything besides pre-made food.

They would usually go out at night to grab a snack, and not invite me, so I guess its all fair.

Bring out a measuring cup and say, I feel like making some pan cakes but I don't have to piss right now. Can either of you give me a cup? Make it a habit, when cooking to hack up phlegm and spit in a pan. Complain about your fingers smelling like sh!t. Pick your nose and sprinkle the buggers on your salad. Soon you should find yourself eating alone and in peace.

In your situation I would vote No way.

When I was in college and had 2 roomates we would take turns and divide stuff fairly.

If you do cook for them, they should cook for you sometimes ... or work out a deal like that

um... unless you eat their food, or they help you pay for it, why would you be expected to make them food? yeah, it'd be nice of you, but you're not a jerk for not making them food too. usually it's just as easy to food for 2 or 3 than for just 1, but it's not your responsibility.

Strange. I haven't heard such a thing in a long time. That's b/c I'm so greedy there's no way I let anyone eat a single crumb fallen from my table, even a starving, small cocker spaniel even when he looks right into my eye and sits drooling let alone some big people who probably eat tons of food.

Thus, my answer is never and no way, eat your food and don't let them take yours.

Work with me, people, I'm doing my best here.
Bitter about the fictitious time, as if I ever knew you in real life, that I did the "Can I borrow some pee for your breakfast" trick on you.

well, why dont you guys figure something out, like one cooks one nihgt, other cooks next, etc.

if that doesnt work, then everyone buys/makes/cooks their own
