My thinking - HELL YES! The Internet is the greatest contribution to illegal activities since the invention of crime!

Too bad there's nothing we can really do about it... 🙁

What do you think?

Yeah its pretty easy to attack insufficiently protected sites, or reach a large user base for fraud, but thats not an issue. Sooner or later people will learn to be prepared. If you don't wear a bulletproof vest into a warzone, don't cry when you get shot. Similiarly if you don't investigate things and get roped into fraud, then so be it. I don't see how pirating software is any easier. I find it easier to copy the disc from a friend just like happened 10 years ago. The majority of americans still don't have broadband so I'd say downloading software is even harder. Whee 650 megs over 28.8! I don't quite know what you mean by view illegal pictures? I don't think the internet is gonna make that many more child pornographers. You do or don't like it.

I think anyone who tried to change any of it would be met with extreme resistance. I know I would object, keep your legislation to yourself please.

who talked about any legistlation? this is precisely why teh internet has become such a haven for crime... rules can't be inforced...

urm. well let me think. yes? OF COURSE!

Well, it's also too easy for someone to throw a rock off of an overpass and onto a busy freeway. Generally it's easier to get into trouble than to stay out of it. The internet is no different, there's just script kiddees instead of taggers and ebay scammers instead of people selling stolen goods out of the back of a van.

Just because something makes it easy for crime to be committed doesn't mean it's responsible for the crime. I think it is very easy to perform illegal activities over the internet, but that's the dark side of a mostly free comunity. I don't think it should change just because some people abuse it.

Sorry I went off on a tangent 😉 You didn't specifically mention legislation, but many people who do see the trend you see would like more legislation to try and make it a "safer" place!
