I look at Halo as a poser's FPS. The only FPS I've ever been good at on a console was Goldeneye, partially because the controls were simplified. Halo, from the few times I played it with my friends in HS who thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, had insensitive controls, and whoever decided that crouch should be a press-in of a control stick needs to be taken out back and shot.
Yeah, I forgot about that. The crouch was the stupidest move ever. It wasn't toggle, so you had to move crouched with the button pressed in and it was difficult.
I had high expectations when Halo for the PC came out. The gaming press had proclaimed it the best thing in the universe, but sad to say THE GAME SUCKED. First, the weapons were incredibly stupid and unrealisitc. The assault rifle was too weak, and like Matthias99 said, strange that an assault rifle was weaker even than the psitol. It took a whole clip of the rifle to bring down the covenant. And don't get me started on the uber-repetitious copy-paste levels. The library level with its thousands of zombies made be cry with despair.

Never played it, but wasn't particularly interested by screenshots, its theme, the fact that it was developed for 5 year old hardware or the the type of people who played it that I've come across, so no.
There's no single "best" game. At least 3 or so for every genre would have to be chosen as best.
Haven't played it, but wasn't impressed with the screenshots, and I know a buch of xbox fanboys were screaming how good it was, but I don't believe them. No game has impressed me as much as the original HL when it came out. I played the demo, and literally the next day bought the full game.
I'd agree there. It's a good shooter, but compared to most of the AAA shooter titles on the PC, it was just run of the mill.
However, consoles, having never had a good shooter EVER before (if anyone says anything about Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, I swear I will slap you), went gaga.
A good game, thoroughly enjoyable, but very very overrated.

That's your opinion, fine. I played Red Faction 1 and 2 on the PS2, and thought those were decent. Also, the original Half Life was out on PS2, although I havent tried that one. In general, though, no cosole shooter was as good as the best on the PC.
Halo sux, Boring and repetitive levels, the weapons are terrible (nothing to do with HL and HL2 or COD weapons), the gameplay with the gamepad is terrible, the grephics engine sucks(both, Xobx and PC engine) and the graphics are crap, I thing a geforce 3 hardware could have been done more. Halo 2 is even worse, more of the same crap.
