Excellent way to see how politics affect gas prices.

California ranks somewhere at the bottom of my list of places to live. In fact, california and most of the east coast are some of the places I want to avoid living at in my life. the mid-western states is where it is at (Idaho is my home)

Well, Nevada has hookers. That's something.

I mean, technically California can have hookers, but technically it can have automatic rifles, too (illegally)

The HOF is in Canton, Ohio for a reason ;) Perhaps that is because a certain area of Ohio (& Pa) were central stages for the devolopment of the game. Even smaller schools in the region develop pro bowl caliber NFL players.

Cali needs to get off it's collective superiority complex just as bad as the canux need to lose their inferiority complex with America. Better yet, put them together and see how long it takes the blow hards from cali to provoke the hosers into violence.

I'd rather live somewhere cheaper, less crowded, and a little slower.

Texas FTMFW.

too many Texans

Second most populous state and rising.

I expect Texas to be the new California in about 20 years.

Thats because all of the Californians are moving there.

Be careful what you wish for. California 20 years ago was head and shoulders better than it is today.

Absolutely Not. They hate freedom, so they should not even be in the running for the greatest state in the Union.

Civil rights (2nd amendment for instance), uncongested highways, realistic property values, a governor whose life hasn't been dedicated to make-believe, actual trees and vegitation, breathing room (ie not overcrowded), a population that speaks mostly english, weather that isn't mostly reminiscent of a desert, etc, etc.

My governator can beat up your governor ;)

I have lived in MN, VT, AZ, WI, NY, AK, OK, AL, WA, NV and CA (San Francisco, where I went to law school) and visited, I believe, every state. On balance I think CA almost certainly has more to offer than any other state, so even though I no longer live there, I'd say it probably is the greatest state in the union.

As stated by Eeezee

Nevada has hookers.

And to also toot Nevada's horn
No state income tax.
Gas prices are lower
Lawsuits are not generated over water.
Electric power - no brown/black outs
Minimal gangs (city)
Less traffic jams
Less pollution

I am sure that every state can come up with a couple of reasons that they are better than California.

More ignorant things have been said.

But not often.

Please enlighten me on how my statement was ignorant? If Texas keeps growing at the rate it is and illegal aliens keep invading the state, it will be the new California.

No doubt it was a much better place 20 years ago. If the current trends keep going, Texas looks to be headed down the same path.

Hmmm........how about lower taxes, lower fuel cost, lower cost of living, less "load sharing" blackouts, and an absolute lack of Diane Feinstein. How's that??

I lived in Cali for about 10 years (stationed there for 8 of those), and don't miss it. Higher cost of living AND state politicians that love to put "temporary" taxes on their constituents......that never seem to go away.......well, let's just say that the negatives outweighed the positives.

Now let me pose a question to you California lovers. Have you ever lived anywhere else long enough to where you had anything else to compare California to, or are you just basing your judgement on short visitations out of state?
