I think their season is over. They are playing for wildcard and the way they are playing I really hope that they don't get the wildcard spot. It would just be a waste of post-season series.

The team has given up. You can't blame this on individuals any more team as a whole has to take the blame and admit that they lack the desire to win.

I'm a Yankee fan, but it's really sad what happened to Boston. They had a lot of potential and they're just pathetic. I like them to be a worthy opponent :) .

it's still july...have a little faith. look at all the injuries they're dealing with. no one really expected them to win the east, and the wildcard race will be a good one.

Personally I think the management has made some pretty sh!tty decisions in the past few days, as well as before the All-Star break. With Nomar out, we lack a good SS and contact hitter, and now with Ortiz in the doghouse I think there is little hope for even getting the wildcard spot...

Playing a brand new infield in a series opener against Baltimore...not a good idea, doesn't even matter who you play. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Yankees. If the Sox can pull a win in this series I think that they might be able to pull it off...but if they lose it's all over.

What a retarded poll. Imo, they have a chance at Wild Card.

What do you mean, Ortiz in the doghouse? He's the ONLY guy on the team playing spirited baseball. Well, Johnny Damon too. Ortiz is the only player on the team that I'd actually want on my team.
EDIT: I didn't know about the suspension.

They aren't dead yet, but close to it. Playing .500 ball just isn't going to get them into the playoffs. We will see what happens this weekend against the Yanks. I feel they have the ability to get out of their "slump", but it has yet to be seen whether or not they will.

Oh, and David Ortiz's 5 game suspension won't help either.

Well then you fall under the delusional category. A wildcard spot for redsox means a easy victory for some other team.
