use it tons... fdisk doesn't work that well with ntfs partitions on extended partitions, otherwise very handy.

Yes, when everything else fails and you can't boot for some reason, there's always that dusty, trusty ol' floppy boot disk to save the day! Besides, using a boot disk is the most "safest" way to flash a BIOS.

I use a Modified Win98 start-up disk and a 2nd disk with PQMagic 6.0 on it that I couldn't get by without. A Win NT (2000) ERD can be handy as well.

I used to use a regular Win98SE startup disk, but FDISK doesn't work very well for Win2k or Linux. So I modified it a bit.

But you need some sort of DOS start up disk.

The floppy drive is like an auto mechanics tool box. The average person probably has no need of it, but a techie can hardly get bye without it.

not necessarily the original Win98 Startup disk, but I have a few customized startup disk, which is really handy.. another good boot utility I've found is the IBM Drive fitness test, it also come with pretty much all the SCSI drivers..

Yes its important, I would not be able to live without my startup disk since I format a lot.

Not necessarily the Win98 bootdisk, but some type of modified (personalized) boot disk is a must.

Without a boot disk and your system crashes how would you start over ?

Think about it logically, the answer is simple...DAH !

thanx for the responses. I'm trying to get the swap monkeys and their bosses to understand that a boot disk is extremely important.

One of the district managers told me that a Win98 boot disk doesn't have anyway to test a hdd or cd-rom drive. I'm currently attempting to get him demoted or fired

Love my win98 boot disk.

I better make another one before this one dies, I'll have to do it at work since I dont have a win98 machine at home anymore. (win2k all the way).

I never use one, I created my own bootdisk for using on all comps that I reformat or service. Has all the tools needed, fdisk, format, cd drivers, etc.....has done my wonders....
