POLL: Irresponsible to have 10 kids if you can't properly provide for them?

A family locally had their house burn down recently. They had no home insurance. They have 10 kids ranging in age from 8 months to 11 years. The lack of home insurance tells a tale of their financial standing, but this is reinforced by their confirming that they have no money. Now I think this is just irresponsible having 10 kids when you can barely provide for them. We all have different measures of what providing for a child is, but if you're scraping the bottom of the freaking barrel at what point do you say "Hey honey maybe we've had enough kids? Let's try and provide better for those we already have."?

Definitely irresponsible.

Sounds like something that would happen to my brother-in-law and his wife.

Yes.

Cousin of mine has five kids, he can barely provide for them... I fear for the day when I get a large amount of money and he finds out.

Why isn't there a poll option for 'The good lord will provide for us.'

Because that's gotta be what they believe and are expecting in this case. Of course I'm sure their faith in the lord will be rejuvinated when the community comes through for them and their irresponsible nature.

10 Kids. :Q Well, when you have 9, what's one more.

Or are they one of those septuplet families (had 3 kids and next time was a doosie). If that's the case I take back my

. (Edit: Didn't read it but saw they range in age I guess it was 'we don't believe in birth control' for them).

Irresponsible maybe, but I still think we should reward those people with tax credits and food stamps.

With the upper-middle-class's tax money, of course.

In times like this it's appropriate for the father to say, "I'm afraid it's medical experiments for the lot of you."

No. There HAS to be a line drawn so that tax credits are cut off after a certain number of kids. As for food stamps, the abuse with them is high. We need to make the Food Stamp system much better and quit letting food stamp users and cashiers rip the system off.

As for this family I do feel sorry that they lost their home but whatever happened to planning for emergencies? Oh wait they didn't even plan to have a single one of these kids so why the hell would they plan for an emergency? The sheer stupidity of people amazes me sometimes. I have no doubt the community of Birmingham will rally around this family and before you know it they will be living in a nice cozy 10 bedroom home in Mountain Brook after donations and lawsuits get settled.

This world is so damn grand it makes me cry sometimes.

:Q Jeebus H. Christmas!! According to my math, this means the poor woman who bore all these pups has been carrying a child (at some stage) for 70% of the last 11 years. That is messed up.

I think (=HOPE) that the [edit]Boberfett[/edit] comment was sarcasm. Oh, man do I hope.

This is actually one of the few topics I feel strongly about...

Why should we help them if they arent going to get off their arses, go out, and get a job (or two) to support their family properly? Maybe they should have gone to school and gotten a degree so they could have a real job (their level of education was not mentioned but someone with out insurance...) so they could properly provide for their family? They arent doing their kids any favors by living in those conditions. They should have stopped at 3 or 4 kids if they didnt have enough money to maintain a proper level of living conditions. Not having insurance is just irresponsible.

People on welfare for extended periods of time make me sick. I went into Sam's club the other day and there was this $hitty @ss escort sitting out front all rusty with a bunch of fat people in it. It even had a fricking handicapped hanger thing in the windshield. One of their many bumper stickers said "Keep working hard, you are paying for my welfare". At that time I wanted to drag them out of their car and give them a good beating. Apathy is no reason to mooch off others. Even the dumbest person or most handicapped person can get a job at McDonalds or even Sams Club as a greeter. Some people just make me ill.

Why? It makes sense to me. I don't mind paying for other people's children isn't that how things were intended to be? I am confused here. I always thought welfare was paid for by the stupid miserable rich and given to the sad and misguided family that has 11 fcking children.

As for what I really meant... I don't mind being able to deduct on your taxes for a SANE amount of children but this is absolutely not a case in which I think it is ok!!!

Oh another thing. I actually have a friend that is from a family of 12 kids. They waited until they were able to provide for all their kids until they had another one. They have a nice house, they all work or goto school and none of them get into trouble. What was the key here? Planning, Discipline, Education, and Common freaking Sense. This family mentioned is obviously a mirror opposite.

I think that the kids should get some food, since we can't punish them for their fvck-happy dumbass parents, but my GOD something HAS to be done to encourage those who are poor to have less kids. Think I'm promoting an idea of "you don't have money don't have kids"? You got it right. Look, if you're unable to feed yourself and make it in the world for one reason or another you have no business teaching those skills to 10 kids. Seriously now!

You people are evil. Where's your charitable spirit? You should feel bad for these people and want to help them out. It's not their fault they can't provide for a family that size.

Nobody should have 10 kids regardless of their financial stature. It's irresponsible and downright rude to your community. I mean, if I was sitting in a restaurant reading a magazine and eating my dinner and you walked in with your 10 screaming, rude, smelly, food-throwing kids and sat anywhere within 100 feet of me, I'd blow my lid and politely ask the manager to seat you elsewhere. Like outside. :|
