IMO...z560 > z640.

But why are you limiting yourself to Logitech?

I have Monsoon MH-505s. These things beat down the Z560s when it comes to music. Kind of lacking compared to the Z560s in the gaming department though.

Altec Lansing 641s sound better to me than the z560s as well. Hate the hissing though.

The Z560 I have does not hiss. I believe there was some issue with the control pod.

My bad, the hissing I mentioned...was referring to the altec lansing.

When I had z560s, they didn't hiss. The z680s pop when you alter the volume. I didn't really have any sort of technical problems with my z560s.

I think Logitech addressed that issue regarding the Z680. They're exchanging old control pods with new ones for free. Contact them. :)

I have teh 560's and like them very much. I also do not have any hissing. If you like loud and a lot of bass you will like these. but there are speakers out there with more true soud for the audiophile.

Nice. those Z680s sound awesome for the price. Any word on how often they crap out? I know there were lots of angry Klipsch owners, and many complained about the Z560s...including me. Sub died, and speakers just crapped out. bleh :disgust:

Never heard of any 680s crapping out. I'm using the Z560 and it's still going strong after almost a year. :)

The problem with the z560's is that they are very, very unoptomized. They have potential, but they sound terrible out of the box. I found with some loudness filtering and some soundcard tweaking, its much better.

I just recently got a set of the 680's for my DVD player and my Xbox....they are simply incredible for what they are. I was setting up a mini HT setup in my room for my DVD player and Xbox, and I was going to go with a DD receiver and one of those 5.1 speaker in a box sets. I decided on the 680's since they fit the bill perfectly, are much better speakers than any of those 5.1 in a box sets, and I didn't need to get a seperate reciever just for my bedroom.

I do have the minor hiss, but I need to be less than a foot away from the center speaker to hear it and it really doesn't bother me at all. I think it's so minor that I may not even bother getting a new control pod. If you look around, you can find them for ~$275 with free shipping...excellent deal for a great set of speakers.

:)

You should change the title and poll choice - I'm confused as to whether you're talking about the 640s or the 680s!

Never mind....I saw your part about the 680s and everybody talking about them and thought they weren't the same..my mistake.

MrDudeMan,
rite now i have the Z560, it is a good speaker, everything u need will be there especially the bass.

one thing, do u have a big room.??

i am still struggling keeping my Z560 or get the Z640(or inspire or something that is 5.1).

the volume of Z560 is too loud. i can no way to play music or DVD at that loud. Just like in rave.

rite now i am a little leaning towards the z640. cuz want to save some money.

oh ya, the z640 doesn't look good though, i mean the appearance. Z560 looks a lot better, especially the volume nob and the satellite.

:)

Hmm, and again I would recommend reading professional reviews instead of polling Anandtech users on such a technical issue :) Not that I don't trust my fellow geeks. But I prefer to get factual data from review sites (Google.com being #1 :))

Yeah, because what do people know who actually use them right? ;) I think a balance of pro reviews and user opinion is best...
