Heh, we live under one of the flight paths of Marine One. We've been joking for a year about President Obama and then, of course, were joking about "President Trump," long before that was a reasonable possibility...then it became sad and true. 🙁

Now I'm kinda worried about what I'm doing in my backyard if Big Brother happens to fly by.
 
Doesn't location affect the crowd size? The inauguration is held in the heart of libertopia, and lefties aren't alone in hating this guy. Maybe if it was held in Texarkanssissipi things would be different. The only way I would drive more than 45 miles would be if Thor and Patrick Stewart won the election as co-presidents and they were accepting it inside a real Gundam robot.

Sure...but the point of this thread is that he could not stop himself from lying about the size of the crowd.

My guess is that he either got it wrong or that there were pictures we didn't see (say, cycling through). Apologies for overstating the case and claiming something that didn't really hold up.

At any rate... I don't know how Spicer told such blatant, easily disproven lies with a straight face. It's an administration that's at war with reality.

Yeah I know, I was following the crowd into the realm of 'why'. My real question here is, how far off can he be and still be labeled a liar, since it's all an estimate and he could never get it right. If he's off by 800k+ like it seems, then call a spade a spade. If he turns out to be marginally close (even in metric trump-inches) I hope it doesn't get beat to death because it will make worse things easier to push into white noise.

I hope they appoint somebody else to the position of Press Troll, this guy us just not attractive. Maybe a 4? Trump should be putting an attractive man in this position. At least an 8.5. Certainly somebody who is tall also, more than 6ft. That is extremely important (to be tall).

Trump claimed beforehand that it would be the biggest crowd ever. It will be amazing! Then he predictably started lying about it in the face of insurmountable evidence against his fake reality, even going full Ministry of Truth with his so-called "bigly good press talker."

And yet little finger cares so much about it he had to go off about it. In a place of honour for 117 people who gave their lives anonymously in defence of their county. He had Spicer go out and rant even more about it because he's that insecure. THAT'S the point of the thread. How predictably insecure and petty he is.

Even if we accept that he's just poor at estimating, he is abjectly lying about this media collusion against him, denying the content a real photo, and has ordered a department to stand off of twitter for two days until he "fixes them." He fucking said in front of the CIA that he is going to "fix them." ...and all fo this because he has the fucking skin of an 8 year-old that dropped his lolly in the dirt. This is an incompetent man-child that is grossly and so obviously unfit for the daily expectations of this job. He can't handle the fucking low attendance of a "glorious Donald party." How the fuck is he going to react when Putin ignores him the very first time and doesn't give him what the donald thinks he deserves?

This is a new reality, and nothing about it can ever be considered normal.

Washington has about 500k residents, more than that showed up for the protests. Way more than that took the metro for Obama inauguration. No matter how you slice it, trump had a lower turnout, period.

So the tv numbers are in and he had 30+ million viewers watching. Certainly not record breaking but it was more than Obama's second inauguration.

Given I think Trump needs to be told to behave and he has to learn to accept feedback and criticism, plus learn to show some gratitude. I will say from Trump's view the place does look exceptionally packed. Below is a link to a giga-picture, pretty cool image

depends. Tons take the Metro. You realize it goes well into VA and Maryland, right? I live in Maryland and am technically one stop from DC, 5 stops from the National Mall. 4 of those central stops were shut down on Friday, But Metro was running fine like it does on every day. My GF takes it every day back and forth to the opposite corner of DC, and it is packed along the route.

Oftentimes, traffic along certain routes is shut down because of political bollocks and of course that was no exception on Friday. Form my experience in traffic and on the train, it seems that everyone drives in and everyone takes the metro There's just too many f$%@#ing people here. 😀
 
Basically the press has three options when it comes to Trumps bullshit fabrications, none of them good.

1) Just report the statements Trump makes, in which case his fabrications will be taken as true

2) Report his fabrications but include statements indicating that others believe them to be false, in which case it makes settled issues seem to be controversial.

3) Indicate that his statements are just plain wrong and risk being pilloried as being biased against Trump, and so not to be trusted.

Fact checking Trump in real time would be seen as "war" by Donald. Not being "at war" with Trump would be letting him lie at will, and be a sign of weakness that he would only exploit. This has been going on over the last year.

As of now, the press as a whole has behaved with ratings and access in mind and not journalistic integrity. If you use the recent press charade/conference as an example, you have seen the future.

Journalists stepping over the corpses of their comrades in the hope that THEIR network gets to ask the question that the Baffoon-in-Chief answers. You can't piss the guy off or he might not ever call on you again. Maybe ban you from the room.

The press should demand actual answers to actual questions. If he refuses to answer a valid question from one reporter the next should ask the same question. If he flat out lies or contradicts himself, which he seems to do on a daily basis, he should be called out on it. Not his bullshit about gowns or bestest inauguration ball ever. If its about any of the thousand important issues, his feet need to be held to the fire, if not in it. I have little hope that the mainstream media does this until there exists overwhelming and undeniable evidence that he or his administration have screwed up bigly. Then they'll all jump on the bandwagon and say what a good job they did.
