So I'm attempting to launch my first website, I want to get into selling retail items (anime dvds, mp3 players, books, watches, etc..). However I'm not sure if I should go with an Easy Store Creator or either have someone program it for me. I would take the time to learn it on my own but I want to get this thing going as soon as possible.

Anyone out there with a few suggestions

You could also go the template route... while I tend to hate this method, it allows for a store up instantly, and slightly less headaches. But overall, I'd do it myself if I had the time. But I'm a picky SOB and would keep trying to make the site cross browser compliant... and stick to "good" coding technique (ie, not mixing divs and tables...).. and it's a PITA :p that and I'm not creative for the graphical stuff.

With that said, if you have time, and some creativity and skill w/ a graphics program, I'd do it yourself. Otherwise, grab a template or site creating softare and run with it. Hiring somone else can be a pain, and quite expensive if you're not absolutely sure on what you want.

I'll definitely learn how to do web programming sometime down the line but I've been so busy between my day job and doing other things to get the site going its sucking up all my time. Just this past Friday I took the day off work to register my business name and set it up as a LLC, this week I'll try to get my tax id, sales tax license and setup a merchants account. In addition to that I've been communicating with lots of companies (wholesalers, distributors) trying to negotiate pricing on the merchandise I plan on selling. Its a lot of work but I think its going to be worth it. In fact instead of just doing one site I think I have a really cool concept for actually doing about 4 different sites.
