POLL: If someone dies in a car accident they caused?

Like if they just loose control under normal driving conditions (no rain or anything), would you feel that bad? Especially if they were going fast enough to flip the car and not wearing seatbelts. IMO I would chuck it up to another person who shouldn't have been driving in the first place and be thankful they didn't take anyone else with them.

Normal driving conditions as in, everything is optimal that we can't control. The driving style like wearing seat belts and speeding are the person's choice.

Oh. In that case, Charles Darwin smiles when these people die.

Yes, even if they are speeding without wearing seatbelts, I still feel bad for them and their families. It's no different than smokers to me. Yes they are doing it to themselves in large part, but it's still sad.

Why not? A simple mistake like not getting enough sleep can cause a fatal accident - but if an innocent(s) dies, then I don't feel sympathy.

what are you? 17 years old and never made a mistake in your life?
I'll agree that I feel less sympathy if they weren't wearing seatbelts, but... everyone makes mistakes.. once that mistake is made, the difference between life and death is completely out of your hands.
Driver gets distracted by a flash to his left... drifts slightly onto the shoulder.
Now, if it's winter in NY, you'll hit the slush and go flying off the road. Hit a tree may = death.
In the summer, you'll probably gain control.
In the spring... again, what if the car gets pulled from the tire hitting sand on the side of the road? tree...death is a possibility.

Same mistake.. very minor mistake.. 999/1000 times it's benign. 1/1000 times, it's serious.

Sympathy
Compassion
Empathy
Pity

These are all things you will need to understand the differences between if ou are going o be a contributing member of society.

I suggest starting in a dictionary.

Good luck.
