Poll: IEEE 1394 FIREWIRE

What do you guys think about FIREWIRE Hard Drives? I've also seen hard drive conversion kits for your IDE drives?! 400mb/sec sounds great to me.. but is that realistic?
So whatcha think about FIREWIRE so far? Thumbs up/Thumbs down?

Firewire is 400mbps which is 50MB/s, not nearly as potentially fast as IDE or SCSI. As for the format it is competing against, USB, it has quite a few advantages. Firewire hard drives are certainly faster than USB drives, it would be nice if they made 7200RPM drives though. The main use for firewire currently is DV editing which it is ideal for.
