If Trump loses, I suspect he'll bloviate a lot, and blame everyone but himself for the loss. He'll fire people left and right, pardon the right horrible people as fast as he can, but he'll leave gladly because he likely wants to go back to his lush private life with all his new connections and lease on life. I don't think he fears anyone going after him when he leaves office, I think he fears losing, but he's so tired of the 4 year barrage that he'll suck it up.

I do think he'll leave the leadership in a broken, depleted state, and Biden will spend two years rebuilding the basic infrastructure of what makes our system work before he can actually work on any of his policies.

I am betting it will. Biden's main goal is to make Trump fade into history as fast as possible. The rhetoric is going to all be 'bring our country back together' and 'Trump lost he no longer matters'.
The fact is putting Trump on trial would go against one of the most dearly held tenets of our current Justice System: Rich and or famous people don't go to jail.

I seriously doubt that a self pardon would be allowed to stand simply because it would enable future presidents to do literally anything. It also violates the principles of natural law that underpin the Constitution-

I understand that natural law pining's of the Constitution. I just also know that conservative Justices have a tendency to flip back an forth between Originalism and Strict constructionism as it suits their political agenda. If it was a Democrat that pardoned himself those conservative Justices would claim an Originalism argument against self pardon citing Natural Law. Since it will be Trump, they will cite a Strict Constructionism argument that no matter what the Founders meant, what they wrote does not prevent a President from pardoning himself. There is plenty of examples in the current courts opinions of them doing exactly this. Now that they will hold a solid majority expect to see it used regularly in the majority rulings.
