Poll! How useful is your PDA?

Thinking about buying one. Not sure if I should look in the $250.00 or $350.00 or $450.00 dollar range.

I just recently sold mine, I had a 206mhz PPC and the only reason I could see to upgrade was gaming, as far as office apps, internet explorer, etc it was fine, only sold it because i rather upgrade my main rig and i didn't need it, mostly had it to play NES roms

I've had two. I'm really not sure why I got the second one, because I already sold it. Unless I get one integrated into my phone, its just a pain to carry.

I had the Treo600 smartphone for a while but dropped Sprint altogether... I loved it. I also have a Palm VIIx that I stopped using because it was a pain in the @$$ to carry as a separate device. I'd love to pick up the Treo600 again if VZW decides to ever pick it up. I'd definitely use the scheduler/apps on it. I even neffed on ATOT with it.

I wouldn't buy a separate PDA device ever again. I suggest you try a smartphone (if you use cellphones) for 15 days to see if you like them.

When it gets really windy it holds down the papers really well.

It also performs well as a stand for our DirecTIVO remote control.

Therefore I give it a 8/10 score in the paper weight category.

I'm on my 3rd PDA. First was PalmIII, then Handspring Delux, now Sony Clie' PEG-NX60.

I'm a mechanical engineer, and I love all the apps that I can load into it. I like that I can play/give PowerPoint presentations, check/send email (with wireless card), play videos, etc, etc. I find Grafiti to be faster than the QWERTY keyboard.

If you are not an organized person to begin with, or do not have a heavy schedule whee you have things sheduled every 30-60 minutes where you have to realy manage your time, I don't think a PDA would be a good fit.

I will say that it is a pain to carry both a PDA and cell, and a combination of the two will be my next purchase, but not for at least another 2 years.

I used to have one but I left it in the shi*ter one day and someone lifted it : (
I definately want to get another one

Oh and I used to write Palm web clipping apps for it.. talked to DBs and everything... cool stuff. It's more a toy than anything unless you're on the go all the time.

just got a 400mhz Axim X3I...i love it

i also have a new laptop, and using a PDA far outweighs the usefullness and bulkiness of a laptop for simple tasks...well, even some of the not so simple tasks my PPC can handle. ive got wireless at home and at work, so i leave my desktop plugged in and my laptop & PPC on wireless, setup desktop as a xp server '03 and run VPN...flawless and awesome.
