I guess I need some "Tact Help." I move into my new apt tomorrow. I want to do what I have done with every apt I've ever had; buy a lock, change it, give the office a key. The reasons for this are obvious; only two people then have a key; no questions if something comes up missing.

Here's the problem; the manager is a penis with feet. A walking dick, if you will. He's the property owner and his attitude smells like shiet.

How do I go about this? I'm afraid that if I ask him first, he'll shoot it down.

I tend to live by the saying:

It's better to ask for forgiveness than it is to beg for permission

;)

Vote, please.

Unless it is costing him, he really has no beef. Change the lock, hand him the key. Done.

I am with you, Winston!! But this guy is a DICK. When he showed me the apartment all he did was tell me about all the things I have to make sure I clean when I move out, else he's gonna keep my deposit.

I mean, crap; I hadn't even said I wanted the place yet?

The reason I' moved there is trifold:

1. Rent good for square footage
2. Layout of apt is excellent
3. Nice area and 15 minutes from work

Now I'm leaning towards asking him. I mean, I'm buying the lock, I'm installing it and I'm giving him an original key...nothing underhanded about it.

Do you think his similarity to a phallus will present problems for your subwoofer?

Yes, I do. :disgust: As long as I live in an apartment, I will have those problems. I will be buying a house about a year from now.

The reason I didn't buy a house RIGHT NOW is b/c:

1. I just got to this city, so I'm staying in a hotel at my expense. You do the math; I needed to get out NOW.

2. Buying a house is not something you rush

3. I don't know if I'm even going to LIKE IT HERE yet :Q

I will just deal with it. Hopefully, I have cool neighbors. I doubt it, though. I will get thru it; I'm happy just to be getting into my own place aggain!

Just change the locks. What he does not know wont hurt him. Also get a couple of concrete garden stepping stones and stack them and place your sub ontop. This will help with acoustic coupling and keep it more apt friendly. Good Luck with Mr Phallus.
