From FW, I was curious as to what this crowd's opinion as to what annual income would you consider to be rich.

Link to US Census

For my zip code, the median household income is $63,774. I think $75,000-$100,000/yr (taking cost of living into account) would be considered rich for a single person to live on and even support one other person.

rich is relative, you could be making $300k/yr, but if your yearly expenses are like $299k, you aint rich. I read it somewhere that if you have about $800k in asset/savings, you are richer than 84% of the people in the US.

Wow your numbers are low IMHO, for me to be rich I would have to be making 1.2 million per year, anything less is just well off IMHO.

No one becomes "rich" off of their yearly salary, they become wealthy off how they invest their yearly salary.

Look up the SEC's rules for what the financial requirements are to be an 'accredited investor' those are people that the government considers 'rich' and are allowed to partake in the investments that the rich use to really make $$

I'd measure richness in terms of two things: financial freedom and happiness.

Of course if you want to measure it Robin Leech style, you can look at gross income or profits; have fun with that.

I think it varies by person, where you live and your current (pre-wealth) lifestyle.

For us it would be PAID FOR HOME, 2 PAID FOR cars, $0 cc debt and enough income to live "comfortably".

I'd consider myself rich at 200k/yr.
But if I lived within 100 miles of San Francisco, it would be more like 1 million +

i think 1/2 mill in net revenues a year would be a good beggining to being called wealthy

you must be a liberal, a few percent over the median income isn't rich, that is whacko thinking

By the time I'm 30, I'd imagine $100,000 a year would be the average 'good' salary of someone my age with a college degree. So in a dual-income home, I'd peg $200,000 annually as the new benchmark for 'upper-middle class'...if there is such a thing anymore.

edit: wow that census data is pretty cool! According to results for my city, there are 194 females here with 'no husband present' making over $200,000 annually!!!

MUST FIND THESE WIMMEN!!!! :Q
