POLL: How much of a difference does added memory make when using news readers?

I've been using a variety of different news readers for awhile now and my system always chokes when I try to download a group with lots of headers (3 mil+). I've tried multiple readers with the same results, so now I'm thinking of upgrading from 512mb to possibly 2gig. Will I see a much better performance increase or will it make a minimal difference?

I doubt it'll help much. I would assume that any news reader would use the filesystem to cache headers and such so the memory usage of the app shouldn't change much unless it lets you adjust it manually. It might help in that more will be able to be cached into memory from disk by the OS, but I wouldn't bet on that helping much, especially when deciding whether or not to spend money on 2G of memory.
