See below for poll details...

Well, I have TW cable and their cheapest package is $55/mo or so with 200 channels, 75 radio channels, all the free On Demand channels, etc.

Of course the only channels I ever really watch besides local ones are:
TBS, TNT, USA, FX, HGTV, Trav, History, TLC, Discovery, A&E, Animal Planet, Spike, Comedy, Sci-Fi, and Food TV.

So 15 channels out of the 300+ available to me and I still pay $50/mo. That's why I'll probably be dumping cable and finding other ways to watch the shows I want. Too bad no one has figured out to have an ala carte channel lineup. I'd pay $1-$2 per channel and get the ones I want for $30 or so. Oh well.

So, how many channels do you REGULARLY watch? IF you had to pick all the channels you'd have access to on your TV, how many would you pick because you'd use them regularly?

Just curious to see what everyone says...

3?

HBO-HD
TNT (NBA games)
ESPN

Otherwise I could easily live without TV.

besides local, I only watch Scifi and FX. But I could just download those shows if I needed to and get by without cable at all.

Zero. I torrent the few shows that I follow, then watch them when I can. I have no RF/Cable/Satellite TV hookup, no bills for that stuff, yay! :)

FX, SciFi, CW, Spike, USA, Food, Discovery, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network. I do watch Boston Legal on ABC, but one show isn't enough for me to count the network amongst my tally.

0.

The only shows I watch that aren't on local channels are Pimp My Ride and Dexter (MTV and Showtime respectively). Don't ask why I watch PMR, because I have no idea :p.

Other than that, everything I watch is on local channels that I can get via OTA. I decided to not go with TW cable because of the fact that I only watch 2 shows that are on cable and that's simply not worth it ( not to mention Dexter is only 13 episodes per season ).

EDIT:

I think you may want to add a bit of choice instead of the "<10" category. Seems a lot of people are voting that but it may not give an accurate depiction.

Basic analog FTW. They dont list it online and dont mention it when you ask what is available, but it exists if you ask for it specifically. Cheaper per month and has all the channels you listed as wanting still.

None. But when Lost, 24, and The Unit are on I like to watch them. So three: ABC, Fox, and CBS.

Same. I get all my tv shows from torrents, but I still pay for cable. If I were to watch my cable, I would record the shows I watch and skip the ads anyway.

I feel justified because the proper people are being paid and nobody is losing revenue (I'm not a Nielson home) or ad exposure (since I would skip them).

I guess if I had to, I could get by with (in addition to local):

ESPN
ESPN2
Discovery Channel
Discovery Health
TLC
FoodTV
TNT

Only a handful of non-local stations that I watch stuff on but nothing I couldn't live without.

Zero channels, since I don't have cable. If you count local channels as well, then zero.

I watch Comedy Central and some On Demand stuff when I'm at my girlfriend's. Beyond that, I don't watch TV (I watch episodes of TV shows on DVD, but that's different).

I have basic (the $9.xx a month variety) only because it's cheaper to have that + HSI than HSI alone. Since I'm getting the locals via cable I also rent the HD box for $6 a month.

I really watch very little live TV. I do a lot of series watching from DVD though. I will not pay for premium channels.
