Passed the first time even though I screwed up big time trying to parallel park my moms suburban.

Written was easy. It has been nearly 4 years since then, & I still haven't taken my road test. No ambition to pay out of my ass for a car I suppose.

As long as you took the state sponsored driving course you didn't have to take a driving exam (this was in MI 15 years ago).

I never took a road test.

Just once. I'm lucky they didn't test for parallel parking when I took the test because I don't think I could have done it then. I do it all the time around campus and downtown at school, though, so I can do it now, but I don't think I could have done it when I was 16.

Passed first try. I could have failed just after starting because I didn't stop at the first stop sign (I rolled past it and stopped before the intersection). The instructor asked me if I knew why I could have failed and I told him (I knew it, but I wasn't used to the brakes in the car and I didn't want to slam them). He let me go. I've only had 4 at fault accidents since! (only one with another car) :D

Just once, but we don't have a road test per se, just a course in back of the MVA. It still tests all of the things a road test does, but you're not out driving on the road with other cars.

Also, I almost failed, on the parallel parking part. I maneuvered around, stopped, and he looked out and said I was still a foot off the line. I was crestfallen at that point, because I thought I failed. However, he then told me I had 1 minute left, and to see what I could do. Fortunately I was able to get within that foot in the minute left.

That's why I failed the first time. The day I went was the worst weather imaginable. It was raining so hard that you couldn't see two feet in front of you. Any reasonable person wouldn't have been driving in it, but when it was my turn they just said to get in the car and go. No I couldn't wait. Of course I promptly hit a curb pulling out of the parking lot. Automatic failure.

I just went to a different testing station the next day when the skies were clear and passed with flying colors. :)

I'm kinda in the same boat. Took the written test pack in '97, aced it. Haven't taken the road test or driven much since then yet I've had a car since '99.

I failed my first attempt at the road test because I illegally turned right at a red light with a "No Turn on Red" sign posted - I didn't see the sign. I passed on my second attempt.

Once for car.
I didn't have to parallel park.

Once for motorcycle (just barely got a passing score because I ran over a couple cones in the test where you have to swerve in and out of a line of cones.)

The road test was cake.

you can take it more than once in the same day? normally its "come back tomorrow" for retakes.

but anyways.. i aced both on the first try and only 3 weeks apart.

Umm...

I was driving from the age of 13yrs old (not legally ;) ), but scored 100% on the written test and passed the road test when I was 16yrs. old... drove every day. Moved to England when I was 26yrs. old, drove there for almost 2 yrs on my American license. I finally took a road test in the UK, and FAILED it! Can you imagine?... 15yrs. driving, 2 over over there and I failed!

I passed the second time though!!
:)

edit: fixed spelling mistakes.

passed in once in New York City. I consider this place has a higher standard than other. I had a lot of practice way before. I only got 5 points off because of the stop sign.

my friend's bro took the test a day before me. we had the same lady. he said a curse word "fvck" when the lady trying to warn him not to get to close in the 3 points U-turn. of course he failed. :D:D:D

Twice. The first time, it was a dark and stormy day (no, really, it was). The little man running the test said I took the first turn too fast and sent me packing. The second time I had a much cooler dude testing me. Believe it or not, I even had to pass a school bus -- the lights weren't blinking. :) I rule at parallel parking, which the little man the first time around didn't even get to see.

I got an automatic failure the first time I did the on road part of the test because I drove through a stop sign. Of course the stupid stop sign was hidden behind a tree. Talking about stopped since I aced the rest of the test. Anyways I passed with flying colors the second time because I knew to about the hidden stop sign.
