the problem with programmed universals is that you need to program people to use them the first few times around...

Yep. I hate having to relearn the functions on universals.

that said, my Sony remote died, but, I just bought a Sony universal so it had all the same buttons, albeit in slightly different places, but, otherwise identical. I did program it to do the receiver and dvd and vcr so it pretty much does all now, but, I still prefer the originals.
